Is this really true or just an old wives tale. I've heard it may times but have also jump started all 3 of my VX's and not had a problem.

Is there concrete evidence out there of burnt out stacks/ECU's or any other calamities.

Like's been said, I've never had a problem with jump leads, but bump starting our Ford was put down as the reason for the cat being destroyed.

RAC came, battery was still usable but output was low so he fitted a new one. He was surprised how much hassle it was. I helped and its definitely easier with 2 people. Car starts like a goodun now! Martin s

Jump starting the VX is solely responsible for climate change.

So what is the proper way?

I jump started my Seat today, never done it before just whacked two leads on and turned it over.

I mean by the way the leads are connected, and best to connect direct to the VX's negative battery terminal, not the chassis. Always leave the keys out of the ignition until all leads are connected and the donor cars engine is running

I must have done it 10+ times on the last VX!

Yeah I'd jump start it but like someone said earlier don't cut corners...or get the cables the wrong way around! lol Never had a problem with that when I had an unreliable old battery last winter.
