Lots of cars sent home last Saturday...first stike and your out policy...no second chances. Looks like LoT will not be going back after the Feb date.

If its been tough for LoT I dread to think what it will be like for other TDO's

Seems like a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill. The limit is the limit if you go over expect to get booted out or turned away. I know Bedford have been having issues with neghbours for quite a while tho:( I hope they dont drop bedford as it is a good fun safe track :)

I wasn't there yesterday, but one of the problems with Bedford is that the drive-by noise tests can be quite unpredictable and vary so much with the weather conditions. Whilst I accept that the full circuit is now too long, it will be a shame if we lose such a safe and convenient circuit. chinky chinky

Doesn't sound too hopeful if people were being thrown off in near standard 111S's (just exhaust system, sports cat and induction kits). Understandable if you're in some lairy throttle bodied car, your de-cat'd or running a Honda conversion but a little worrying with just those mods; the same that most of us have. Fear a Larini at Bedford. I'm pretty sure the atmospherics/weather have had something to do with it. I know a load of people got black flagged the weekend before on another day (I think it was MSV direct) and those were similar weather conditions but was probably the "straw that broke the camels back". I'm not convinced we'll see anymore summer days/evenings there. :( I really wish there was an easy way to measure your drive by sound levels - especially in different weather conditions, as the static tests just seem a little too hit and miss. I've been measured at 91db and 94.5db the following week on static tests at Bedford, with no changes whatsoever. WTF? Be interesting to see what effect the bund that they've just had permission to extend will have.

One of my best outings was a summer evening on one of the short circuits, probably the SW combination. Hope it's not the last.

Spot on. My first VX and Bedford combination was an evening on the South West circuit. It will be a real shame if thats not an option in the future. :(

The SW is the best corners per lap, imho. The new GT has too many waste of space straights and hairpins the ruin the flow. But at the end of the back straight has a sequence of 3 corners that is good, pity you have to drive 2miles each lap on the boring bits

Some of it is just random tho... I went in my LY with K&N Open Filter and VSE and was fine all day, Jase went in his LY on the same day iirc and got black flagged for a Piper back box along. I was clearly noisier than Jase but I had no issues.

That's the problem. It's seems so inconsistent and just leaves you there thinking WTF? Hopefully the noise bund will make a difference but I have my doubts. Being pretty local myself, I'm aware that there is a concerted campaign by the local residents that just won't be happy until it's either closed entirely or everyone is running around in silent electric cars. The stupid thing is they welcomed JP with open arms when he bought it as he stopped it potentially becoming a freight airport.

I think the key is to stop bitching at the circuit and to organise some sort of counter argument towards the town folk. As above, the circuit has been beneficial to the site and has helped local hotels, eateries and no doubt petrol stations! Surely a circuit is better than a friggin airport anyway? It's such a good circuit, things could certainly be helped by reducing the length of the long back straight permanently. At the same time some people who go there must know they're going to fail noise limits, and they risk spoiling it for the rest of us.

i have just looked at Bedford, brands and silverstone on google earth. For proximity of housing Brands is far worse than Bedford. Silverstone is comparable with bedford in terms of housing, what is their noise limit compared with Bedford?

perhaps they should turn it into an Asylum seeker center, that will p*ss people right off, or even a council estate, not much difference between the two these days :D

Nice try. Except the infamous Yarls Wood asylum seekers detention/deportation centre is already there (well half a mile away - closer to the village).

What we need is for somebody to start using the big wind tunnel for F1 testing again or the MoD to start static testing jet engines as they did in the past. That wind tunnel was deafening when going at full chat. The residents will be begging for more trackdays with an increased drive-by limit at that point.

Seems like an end to cheap winter Bedford TD's with LOT. :( I've done 2 days there and always been absosolutely fine. Even though i have been measured at 89 db stationary at other TD's

Paul has closed the thread on LoT and asked for it not to be discussed elsewhere pending a decision from MSV. It might be worth closing this one too so as not to prejudice any outcome. chinky chinky

Yeah. The funny thing was, I was there a few weeks before with Piper exhaust + Viper induction kit and passed fine but thought I'd take the induction kit off just to be on the safe side and then got pulled.

Shame :(

Just talking generally about motoring and sports cars... I really think we've passed the 'golden era' of motoring and it's never coming back. Driving simply for the pleasure of it is becoming more difficult and socially unacceptable on a number of different levels. Clamp down on speed, noise, emissions, tax on fuel, larger engines, etc etc. Sad :(

Unfortunately its now 1 strike and you are out. They have cut out the last 2 hairpins before the back straight to try and help out. Noise issues are now a big feature of the brief and the word from 'the management' is that Dr JP values his corporate days too much too lose the support of the council/locals because of a few trackdays. They also look out for the shortshifters and mic location avoiders. Sign of the times.
