I have CL5+, had for the last year. Done track days and road miles on them and really liked the feel of them and their braking performance, also liked the way there is no bedding in process. However, with no warning the inside pads on the fronts broke away from their backing, luckily it only happened going very slow in a car park. I had previously been driving on the motorway and braked relatively hard at the exit junction. Talking to Stefan at Back on Track he says he has seen a number of them do this, just on the CL5s! That is enough to put me off getting them again. So what pads do I go for? CL6s, are they any good? Or do I go back to good old Pagid rs14s? I'm reluctant to go to CL5s again (for reference they were half worn). Cheers,

F'k... and there's me saying how great they are :o If there is a bad batch in circulation they need to get on this quick to restore confidence in the product, as said mine have been great apart from one set pitting, but if I read any more reports like this can't see myself clicking 'add to cart' again.

I get the impression that if they fail, they FAIL...... not get a bit sh** and woody then when you pop them out they fall apart.

Saying that I'll be giving the ones in the brapmobile a damn good inspection as they brakes make a thrumming noise when using them hard anyway (but have always done that)

So what pads do I go for? CL6s, are they any good?

I use RC6's (CL6) and they excellent. I used them on the VX and I now have them on the Elise. They bite hard from cold, stopping power is fantastic. They are however very noisy when used, they rattle a bit in the calipers when new also. They have more metal content than the 5+'s which means they do wear the discs more but on the VX thats not really a concern as they're cheap. The noise is the main drawback, they do sometimes sound like metal on metal.

Just carry an anchor on a strong chain to chuck out the window just in case

It would be interesting to know how many have failed.

Also they will not all fail at the same time, may be just a piece off one so its not as if your going to loose all braking.

But you may have to push to the max on the others if one goes and hope it stays straight. Then change your underpants
