My gf's sister has a fiat 500 and wants to get a better sound system in it. Am I right in thinking it's not a standard single din stereo? Is it worth getting new speakers for the original stereo or is it a bit rubbish??

I know a few guys on here have 500's in the family so any info would be great :)

The standard system is good enough for me. I'm sure I saw some sort of surround for fitting sandard size units.

The usual manufacturer jape is to fit a standard din slot player but use a custom surround and fascia piece to make it fit into the cars particular aesthetic. You can usually find the aftermarket versions of the surrounds to fit off the shelf stereos sold in Halfords and all over t'internet. Made by Autoleads normally.

Do you think it's worth just swapping the speakers for better ones?

Apparently she's managed to break the speakers so they will need changing anyway, but I've no idea how powerful the stereo is.....

Thanks for that. I thought it would need one of those but I couldn't remember what it looked like inside.

How did she break the speakers? Volume too high or was the music really that bad the speakers committed suicide?

The speakers are components in the 500 so you will need to replace them with these. meaning new tweeters in the a pillars. The Head unit is a single din although would need a fasica plate. Autoleads should sort you out with that as said (halfords jobbie):)

You lot will hate this but this is a little recent work on a fiat 500...
