Just out of curiousity, can someone tell me what the topspeeds (and if possible, also the optimum speeds) are in all gears of the VX? I assume that the N/A and Turbo have different gearbox ratios so for both models please. It might have been explained in an older topic but the search option didn't help me much :( And yes, I am a number-nerd (engineer in real life), and so I am always interested in these numbers ;) . For your information, I do not yet own (and also not driven yet!!! thumbsdown ) a VX (speedster).... thanks Mike

It seemed like a simple question! Now I might have to look on a german site as this is probably too technical for here ;) :P :D And I read about a signal led that tells you when to shift. Is that standard on a VX N/A? grtz, Mike

German site... pah :P They both use the same Getrag 5-speed gearbox but on the VXT both final drive and fifth gear ratios have been raised . VXT Ratios... 1st ratio: 3.58 2nd ratio: 2.02 3rd ratio: 1.35 4th ratio: 0.98 5th ratio: 0.79 Reverse ratio: 3.31 Final drive ratio: 3.63 EDIT: Oh and there's no LED on the n/a... only the VXT.

Thanks all! thumbsup Only thing I need to know now is what the max. rpm is for the 2.2 16V and the turbo.... Or is it just 6500rpm (where the redline of a 2.2 16V starts) for both? thanks, Mike

A VXT redlines at 6,500rpm. Approx. top speeds for each gear is... 1st - 30mph, 2nd - 60mph, 3rd - 90mph, 4th - 120mph.... 5th - I don't know... probs about 150mph. This is upto 6,000rpm. :) Oh yeah.... and it gets there bloody quick!! It's not the top speeds that count, it's the little time it takes to get there which puts a smile on my face, and a look of admiration or disgust on the faces of onlookers.

hmmmm, did some calcs here and found for a max. rpm of 6500rpm the following max. speeds: 2.2 16V gear mph kmh 1 33.2 53.3 2 58.5 94.1 3 87.1 140.1 4 120.9 194.5 5 145.0 233.2 2.0 Turbo gear mph kmh 1 35.8 57.5 2 63.7 102.5 3 94.9 152.7 4 132.0 212.3 5 162.5 261.5 Does the N/A not do 62mph (100kmh) in 2nd gear? Reaching the official 5.9s for 0-100kmh will be quite hard I guess if you first have to shift to 3rd? What are the practical numbers here.... grt Mike

No, it doesn't. It's been discussed here earlier I think...
I also think it hard to get the NA to the red line on fifth gear... There isn't enogh power to overcome the air resistant...

Mike 6500rpm limit sounds about right. I've occassionally seen 135mph on my VXT in 4th before changing up, so allowing for a few mph error in the speedo, this equates to your calculated figures. PS I'm sure I read somewhere that the turbo ECU allows the engine to rev to 6800rpm briefly. Although if you miss a gear when accelerating hard, it can go a bit higher than that

The VXT that I've got at the moment will rev to nearly 7k in 2nd, and 3rd. :o I've run out of road in 4th & 5th to try it though...
