Tyres

Just had some new rears fitted today. I asked for the ones mentioned on previous threads on here ie: RE040BZ 225/45/17 90W DOT CFE But theyve fitted ones with a 91W rating I know the w is the speed rating, but what is the 91/90 for, does it really matter.

I couldn't get a V rated front the other day had to go for W which were more expensive... I take it the stock of V fronts has run out for us poor NA owners

Thanks for the help guys Cant decide whether its worth going back to complain. Would a 615kg load capacity make any difference to the performance of the tyre instead of a 600kg?

Chuno I just had exactly the same thing. Couldn't remember the exact dot code & found out afterwards I had the wrong one. & phoned Bridgstone Technical. The loading rating in itself isn't really the problem. The dot code is supposedly.... " a unique tyre compound designed specifically for the handling characteristics of the vx" & there's unique one's for the lizzie & Scooby , TT etc Is there a massive diffference - probably not. But I got mine changed to the correct dot code. The wrong dot code on my 91 tyre was CLB & was for a vw. If it was a cheap deal & you knew what you were getting then no problem. If you thought you were getting the correct tyre - then get it changed. IMHO They cost enough afterall.

The DOT code appears to be correct - CFE, its just the load rating.
They werent that cheap really - £105 each, i was expecting to get the correct ones

Just phoned them, and they dont appear to be the vauxhall specific tyre - looks like i'll be getting them to change them

after my gav a while ago, i was absolutely sure!! i had the wrong tyres fitted (apparently not! though)..So i rang the number/person posted in the 'usefull threads' section. The very nice lady there informed me that the person we have down as our contact has now moved to another department..

The new name/number/contact at Bridgestone tyres for us is:

Another useful thread [here] to confirm the correct spec. Sorry to hear yours were wrong. I think I drove my fitters mad banging on about getting the correct spec. Fortunately they did.

no really, must of found it in a search and didn't notice the date !

TBH I dont think the fronts have ever changed DOT wise.

The rear load/speed rating on the rears changed when the turbo came in....no problem having a higher speed rating

TBH all this DOT code stuff is a crock of shite IMO

Ive had all the DOT variants on mine, and never noticed any difference whatsoever....sure they may be *slightly* different on track at the very limit. But on the road sub 70mph?

FWIW ive got the bridgie 050's on mine now (fitted by TMS)

No difference once again for road use
