Seen earlier thread on the fitting of the 68 mm (supercharged Ecotec) throttle body to the 2.2 n/a. Can anyone advise whether this will work with a standard inlet manifold and standard cams and what the result will be performancewise -- any loss of low-end power??? Has anyone tried to modify the regular 2.2 TB by machining it larger and fitting bigger butterfly?? cheers Griffo

No, u cannot port the standard one and fit a new butterflu, it is not a cylindrical tube!! :beat: Vocky has a 68 mm TB from a Chevy.

That ecotec tuning guide speedster posted (HERE) mentioned about boring them out:

Right now there are 2 places that offer an bigger throttle body for our cars. They are RSM Racing & Reveco (I believe Reveco is ebay based). These throttle bodies are stock throttle bodies that were bored out to 62 MM and fitted with a bigger plate.

does the vx not have the same throttle body then?

The guide reckoned it would improve mid-range performance.

the guys in the usa say that a 62mm TB is the largest a standard engine will take before loss of power/ torque at certain points of the rev range :( I ported my standard 58mm TB and it did improve throttle response, but once the cams/ head were done it was too small :beat: the 68mm TB is ideal with cams/ ported head/ exhaust/ inlet mods thumbsup 68mm TB update - no eml's, less lumpy tickover and it goes better :D

Sorry to interfere

U can get it from saturnpeople.com at $150 including postage

It is indeed electric with the same electric components in another configuration. Vocky has found out how to connect it, and described it in my camshaft thread.

Here

Vocky has already tested it so theres no doubt it´ll work. I have a dBilas intake in my trunk and I think it has a 60 mm inlet. It is possible to port it to fit the 68 mm Tb though. thumbsup
