Does anybody know where I can buy a bigger throttle body for my 2.2L, I've seen the possibility on a forum but I can not find it any more... I think the bigger one came of an american model that uses it. I have tried to search under throttle body but no luck there. Anybody with some suggestions, partnumbers?

Thorney should be selling 3 stages of TB kits very soon. (Allegedly! :poke: ) Suggest you wait for that. (...where's the "Waiting with very baited breath" Smiley????...)

Why?

The throttle body kit is likely to be out of the tuning budget for many a vx owner.

If someone wants to have a go at alternative, low cost tuning options then I say go for it (as long as the changes are reversible should the mods not work!).

The 68 mm TB is £100 and fits the existing wiring with a small mod. thumbsup

Why?

I had no intention of contradicting your suggestion. Your reply was added whilst I was typing mine (see the timings) so I had no chance to see it before I added my 2p's worth.

I realise that thumbsup I just believe that while Thorney's throttle bodies and Courtenay's supercharger may well be excellent, they do not hold the sole rights to tune the VX. If someone else wants to have a go then that's fantastic and can only benefit us all. Guys like dude, vocky, clipping_point and cicastol do a fantastic job of tuning they're own cars and show what can be done ;)

....and I applaud it, indeed we've helped many an owner do their own tuning and supply parts if needed. Just cos we do it doesn't mean we slam on those who don't use us thumbsup but yes.......our kits are much better :P

Does anybody know where I can buy a bigger throttle body for my 2.2L

You can find it here for example:

http://www.gm-auto-parts.com/parts.htm

http://www.trademoti...m?siteid=213824

and other GM Parts shop.

The 68 mm throttle body (2.0 LSJ supercharged ecotec ) is equipped on Chevy Cobalt SS and Saturn ION Red Line cars
but now is in national backorder and no one has this item in stock until next year... :beat:

Email from a retailer:
"Thank you for the order. Unfortunately, your throttle body is on national backorder. There is no stock in any of the parts depots. We have been told it will not be available until 1/1/06."

Noone knows. To fit a 68 mm TB to a standard engine will give u nothing. But if you are planning for +200 HP u need a fitting TB.

Throttle response and power is increased with the 68mm TB, but I've been to busy (and been in Munich :drink: ) to get a remap and rr done to see what it gives :( the 68 mm TB is well suited to a z22se which has had cams, gas flowed head and a decent exhaust, as the TB is the last restriction. I (being mad enough  ) bought the TB from the usa to give it a try, not knowing if it would fit or even be possible for it to work :beat: It took a little time to figure it out, but it worked first time with no problems and is still fitted :D the main areas of modification are 1, an adaptor plate is required to mount the TB 2, the EGR pipe needs removing (it might be possible to reshape it, but as it's not good for performance I removed it completely, I fitted a blanking plate under the EGR valve and blocked off the inlet manifold hole with a small disc) 3, the standard inlet manifold TB opening is too small for the 68mm TB, so it needs reshaping (plus with a little port matching it's not a bad inlet really :o ) 4, you might require new inlet pipework to the TB (depends what you have fitted already) 5, you need to extend the TB wiring by @150mm and also rewire the pins slightly there's some good info and pics if you do a search for '68mm' thumbsup

Hi cicastol,

will the 68mm TB fit on the Dbilas intake OK?

The hole in the dBilas is 60 mm IIRC. With some porting and fitting a new flange the 68 mm TB could be used, at least it looked that way

Thanks CP. I gather from previous posts you have a Dbilas, correct? Are you going to attempt putting the 68mm on it?
