Went to the dealer (who's storing my car over winter) to check out my driving position, as there is not much spare room between the rollcage roof section that diagonally traverses the roof and your head if you have a helmet on and are not so tall or short in the leg and thus have the seat forward. Turned out that it seems just enough. One or two more clicks forward on the seat runner and it would be in contact – though that would be with a thick rubber protector, not the cage itself. Otherwise, would have had to adjust pedals with extensions and extend wheel back too. The car is down in the underground storage space. They just said I could play as much as I liked :P so after I had ascertained that all was OK, I took some photos and had a look at some of the other cars too :) Here's my car and, tucked behind and between the oher Lotus models, a Morgan Aero 3-wheeler with a JAP engine.

Spare any change? You must be joking – my piggy bank doesn't know what hit it! A view from the passenger side – probably daunting enough to put most would-be passengers off! :D

A closer look – see the plaque visible behind the gear lever? That is to say that it is a Lotus-built Cup car.

Driver's side. There is no stereo – those speaker covers are just the best way to fill the gap I suppose.

Here you can see the seatback in the position I need it (only just over 5'8"). Helmet just fits in with enough space to move without fouling on rubber bump protectors. (This is the issue that Gary was asking about).

The Bemani supercharger fits in no probs (and can be installed in the 111R too, unlike the Lotus 240R one which has that big intercooler on top of the engine). The Bemani solution is a charge cooler that is set low in the car – better centre of gravity too :) Notice the Öhlins – there is a booklet supplied with the recommended settings for most european circuits B)

 It's a 100 minute drive each way...

I'm fine thanks :) Been driving again for a few days now. Still wearing a cap in public so as not to frighten people more than usually :D

Most frustrating bit was not being able to write quick notes for the junior dentist working for me. Getting the splint off was great! Getting physiotherapy for the fingers. Have booked some patients in for simple procedures at the start of next week – will see how it goes. Have a complicated surgical case planned for Wednesday afternoon – my GP doesn't think I can do it but, despite being a surgeon himself, and realising that fine motor control is the main thing, he seems to think that I won't be able to undertake such a procedure due to inadequate strength  We'll see – if I have problems at the start of the week I will postpone the tough stuff.

Here's a closer look at the S/C

Then I walked past the workshop. That Williams belongs to the garage owner. He's a contestant in the Thoroughbread Grand Prix F1 events.

Outside was his F1-style racecar transporter. He has lots of fun and has a great team of mechs, as you can imagine. Just a
tincey-wincey bit different to the GM oiks in whose grubby, clumsy, uncaring hands I had to leave my Speedster...

Last one – thought I'd add this as it shows a Europa Special – the first mid-engined Lotus road car. BTW, George Best used to have a yellow Europa – one of the first with the Renault engine. As a schoolboy, I saw him in it in Manchester.
