Parts or trackday onlyPretty sure that you can put a Cat B car back on the road then tax and insure as with Cat C and Cat D. Then you could just keep it and not care about it's status as you know the car. Or will be able to sell and get upwards of 5k. I'm guessing as well as the electrical and engine damage though that the fibreglass was affected aswell??...

That's the only way you can
Cat a only fit for the crusher
Cat b for parts only
Unless you ring it or send abroad

Yep 'red baron' as I named the car after driving its first outing at Donny and taking out a few track focused cars with certainly double the power with theodian the owner. Car was spot on and a track day will sure show any weak points bit went to Elise parts never been back registered on the road
Your going to have to take that car through a full SVA or whatever it is now as if a fresh built kiy car I expect
£5k sounds a generous offer and seen cat c turbo's go for this over the years.

For Cat B i believed you follow the same processas C/D - and no i have never done it but there are Cat Bs on the road at the moment and insured taxed and legal without going abroard. On log book it says that it should have been scrapped. I believe the hard bit is to keep the car and logbook/or get the logbook. As you know insurance companies can give out Cat c or d as required and none of the cat status is lawDo you have info on how to get a cat a or b back on the road?

a Cat B cannot be put back on the road.
The obvious thing to do is strip it for parts, use the bits you want, the engine and CC bits and sell the rest on including clams, lights etc. I think at £5k it would be a good buy.
What I don't understand is that once you've stripped it down and you're left with a bare chassis presumably that then has to be scrapped because that is what's marked as Cat B? Seems stupid when it's completely fine as is in this case...

Anything can go back on the road, the whole Cat system is just insurance industry guidelines anyway and not compulsory or law.

No worries lol- but i believe you can, whether or not in every circumstance i'm not sure. And Cat A, and insurance companies are aware and will insure them knkwing there Cat statusI believe you are incorrect

Think if he v5 has gone back to dvla via the insurance company you will have no chance of getting another on that vin as a cat b is break for spares only and although it may be insurance guidelines you won't get anywhere with the dvla If you still have the v5, that could be a different story but wouldn't bank on getting it on the road taxed and insured correctlyAnything can go back on the road, the whole Cat system is just insurance industry guidelines anyway and not compulsory or law.
