It looks refreshing!

It is so hot here in le mans guys. I just stepped out the hotel to go eat, felt how hot it still was and went back in. Posted Image

All packed and ready to go.

Been so busy with work I've not had chance to get excited about the trip but I'm in full holiday mode now!

I was tempted to ask you to put the kettle on, delays on the M4 meant we are now heading towards the Newberry bypass...

9pm eta - grrr

We took the long way home and had lunch at Reims.

A historic track, with below pitbuilding at the side of a public road.

As you can imagine, a very popular photo location

That was my first, so I better make the last!  Not a great trip for the VX, out of seven UK cars, two have been carried back.  Mine suffered in the heat of Le Mans (35 degrees) although not so much at the slightly hotter Dijon.

I wouldn't go out of my way to return to Magny Cours, but Dijon Prenois is a fantastic circuit and Le Mans will always be worth it for the aura.

Lots of driving, good people and great fun.  See you next time!

Interesting, I’d put Magny-Cours first, Dijon second and Le Mans last.
Le Mans just felt too clinical, too sterile.
Magny-Cours was wet to start and I loved it, absolutely loved the direction changes of the chicanes.

Already booked into next years “final frolic”.

Driving in France checklist

Here’s everything you need to carry with you when driving in France and a couple of things to leave at home

  • • Full and valid driver’s licence
  • • V5C
  • • Proof of Insurance
  • • Passport/national ID
  • • Two NF certified breathalysers *
  • • Reflective jackets for all passengers
  • • Warning triangles
  • • Headlamp beam deflectors
  • • GB sticker (non GB-euro symbol plates only)
  • • No speed camera detectors or sat-navs with camera locations

breathalyser kit is also required, but as of January 2013, the French government announced that the fine for not having an unused alcohol testing in the car had been postponed indefinitely. In other words, you should carry a breathalyser, but you won't be fined if you're found not to have one.

Perhaps I should have read this list before setting off...

👍👍

Chalons-en-Champagne is a good overnight point if you make the drive.
To tunnel (2hrs?) then 2.5 hours to Chalons-en-Champagne followed by 5.5 hours next day to Orange.
Need to factor in the toll charge though.

Jules and I stayed in a fabulous chambre d'hote in Clermont-les-Fermes last year - would happily go back there.
