Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement Part Question

Hi All,

We had a nice sunny day here in Toronto and I thought I'd take the Speedster for a spin...  unfortunately the clutch pedal went to the floor.  Looking at where the fluid went, the master cylinder is dripping, so that was easy to diagnose.  On to a solution. 

I'd rather not fit a used part and looking around the web it seems there are no new 9197407 master cylinders or rebuild kits for sale. 

I'd be surprised if the VX part is totally unique and the two parts that look like they might bolt in are either:

-a Zafira B part (I think I'd have to reuse what looks like a quick connect adapter) or

-a Lotus Elise 2006-2012 part (looks like it would fit but not sure if the cylinder bore is common with the VX). 

Just wondering if anyone has tried either of these?  Worst case, I think I'll get the Zafira part and scavenge the innards for a rebuild.

Why not just buy a new one from Vauxhall or an after market parts place like AutoVaux? I'm sure it wouldn't be any more than £100, probably quite a bit less as they are doubtless shared with 1001 other cars.

I'd not rebuild the part myself, tolerances on hydraulic parts are far too tight for home builds to work robustly/securely.

A job I'm doing myself now.

Its just an astra 2.2 master cylinder, go for a decent make like Luk - there part number is 510003810 (assuming you are NA or sc)

I always assumed it was a vectra B clutch master cylinder, but I would guess any vauxhall model built around the same time will be similar or the same - Astra G, Zafira A, Vectra B

Thanks to All....   Vocky, I think you solved it for me. 

The Vectra B doesn't have the right angle on the outlet, the Zafira has the correct angle but embedded studs that might be hard to install.  Key was looking at the weblink you provided, the Europa part is common for the later Elise and the Europa.  Since the Lotus master cylinder bore will work with an M32 it should work with an F23.  I was worried the Lotus one might be sized wrong working with the Toyota transmissions, but based on this I think they are all the same bore.  With that I can just pickup a Lotus part (easier for me than Vaux parts to Canada).

the Lotus Europa shares many components with the vx220

Yes and you can identify them very quickly if the lotus partnr starts with a letter and 116 directly behind. Like for example: B116C0004F (right steering arm)

the Lotus master cylinder bore will work with an M32 it should work with an F23.

 

I am using the vx220 F23 master cylinder and have the M32 gearbox, so should be okay
