That would be awesome, thanks for the feedback. Maybe it will be that simple, fingers crossed.

I suspose this would also explain why I'm still consuming water.

Well I got chance yesterday to strip my tank down and found that the filter was blocked like Lee's.

I've taken this out and cleaned it, which was a bit of a pain to get completely clean.
I stripped the filter down and used a very small bottle cleaner and a small piece of bent wire under running water.

I washed the tank out but this appeared clean.

I put it back together and tested it but the flow was better but not great, when I took the tank out again I noticed at the pump discharge pipe had kinked, causing partial blockage. So I cut this bit off and left it disconnected whilst placing tank in, then connected up when tank was in place, so not to kink it during install.

I tested it again and flow was much better, I got about 3ltrs/min. The pump states 1.3 GPM (gallons per minute (US I presume)) which is about 4.9 l/m.

When I was putting the fill hose back on the top of the tank I noticed small bits of crap, that looked like what was on the filter. Then I looked at the filler neck in the engine bay and this was the same. They look like wet saw dust, but I think it is probably emulsiphide oil. There is a small hole in the the fill cap to allow air in as the water level drops. This is obviously a hostile environment being in the engine bay, so I have washed this fill pipe out and cut a piece of sponge to put in the fill neck to stop any tiny bits of oil getting in.

I put it all back together again, went to take it for a test drive and realised before I left the drive, that I left the jumper in the test mode in the control box, doh.... So I will do this in Friday as I've run out of time again. Next track day at Anglesey on Monday so fingers crossed its OK.

So moral of the story, check the most likely suspect, the filter and check it once a year as preventitive maintenance, is better than damage.
Also maybe worth buying in a new filter to have in stock.

Thanks for all your help once again 👍😀Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Glad you sorted it i will but a couple of new filters at that price , don't drive  with jumper in test mode you will flood engine with water or even damage  it ,

are you using distilled water ?

Excellent News
But what was the material around the filter and where has it come from

Yeh I'm using de ionised water (costing me £1/ltr! For water....)

I had the car running on the drive warming up and noticed no lights on the guage apart from yellow ones. I was hoping the FAV valve doesn't open when jumper is in test position. Posted Image

I don't know is the honest answer, it could be emulsiphide oil or something else or a combination.
I have always used de ionised water and I'm pretty sure Richard used this as well, but maybe the owner in between didn't, maybe it is scale from a kettle?.?

Try pouring some vinegar (or a packet of kettle cleaner) into the tank to dissolve the calcium, far cheaper than de-ionised water.

Got me worried now, as I got the same kit

I don't know how long it took, but I'm sure the car hasn't done many miles since it was built.

Don't know if I fancy putting vinigar in my tank. 😕

I have only run about 25L through my kit but never checked the filter.
Might have to check it in case the clog easily.

was you running 50/50 or pure de-water?

Richard the bloke who built it, had it in 50/50,then the previous owner ran it on water (unsure what type). Then I have run it on deionised water.
I've not had it long but run about 300ltrs through it, so if you've only done 25ltre, I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh thats good to know.
Mines a road car these days so hardly on the full throttle long and due to the way its configured only kicks in when you really need it hence only done 25L in like a year LOL

On track I would most likely get through 20L per day

Sounds like you need to get back on track and consume some water and get some adrenalin pumping 😁

Hi, I've got a new fault with my aquamist HFS3-v3.1 and was wondering if you clever people could help ?

I've been doing a few bits to my car ready for the new season and thought I was virtually there putting the undertray back on (kiss of death)

While it was running I gave it some revs and noticed the water inj wasn't working, guage was, but bar chart didn't move.

On further investigation, I found the pump not working. I've checked the pump relay but there is no power going to the coil of the relay. I've taken the cover off the aquamist controller and removed the jumper from the FAV and put it in SYM , which should run the pump but still no power to the relay coil. The controller has power and the internal fuse has continuity. I've removed the relay and checked the wiring back to the pins on the board and again this has continuity, so wiring is ok.

Would you have any ideas ?

Adam
