Not willingly... Took rear subframe off, discovered massive crack in gearbox / bell housing casing...

If I'm getting a replacement, might as well try and 'upgrade'..

Nope, just next to the 19 and 17mm bolts for the rear engine/gearbox mount..

Alternatively, if someone had a scrap / dead F23 bell housing that they were not using that would also suffice...

Dang. Vocky can you confirm what would be a straight fit in terms of coding onto a NA?

the vx220 uses the astra G z22se gearbox, not sure why they gave it a seperate code - TN

Astra is the SF or AH, both being the 3.95 FD

The zafira A z22se used the SG 4.17 FD gearbox (the AQ is also a 4.17 zafira box)

You could buy a 4.17 FD gearbox from the Signum z22yh = XY, but then you would have to swap the bellhousing with a z22se item due to the deeper position of the slave cylinder on the z22yh - for the dual mass flywheel.

there is one zafira z22se F23 4.17 on ebay, the later spec AQ, but it's way overpriced at £400
