Battery in the VX didn't start it the other day, so have taken it out and charged it. I have been monitoring the resting voltage, and it's fallen from 12.7v to 12.5v in about a week. Should it be holding it's charge better? I don't want the faff of having to take it out again if it's duff!
Do I Need A New Battery?

do NOT ever do this , battery is very important part of voltage protection

I think (hope) quimbles is suggesting that , to save you having to fit the battery in order to see if it’s ok you could rather leave it out of the car and use jump leads to extend to the car.

yes that, use the leads as an extension. sizten did you think i meant start the car with no battery? or does using the leads remove the voltage protection?

yes , bypassing the battery is the problem
as a precaution when connecting two batteries , you should have a resistive load in the system , so turn on lights , fans

It hasn't been used loads recently, but the last time I used it was around 2 weeks ago, took it for a 45 run, purely to keep the battery topped up! I can normally leave a few weeks no problem, and I disconnect the battery when I lay it up over the winter.
Battery is just over 4 years old.

you could check each fuse , how many amps is being drawn when turned off. It could be something like car tracker hidden away.
