Larger Top Hat And Intakes Pipes Needed For 300Bhp

Been looking at another vx, I've had a picture of the engine bay, owner says it was pushing 300bhp+, looking at the engine bay i would have expected to have seen a larger Tophat or intake pipe's, it still has its original's 

 

Is it necessary to have a larger top hat and intake at 300bhp.

 

Im told the inter-cooler has been changed to a larger one, but still in the OEM position. 

 

Not seen the car in person, Exhaust is milltek 2.5

Mine made 298bhp recently. But it has larger top hat and pro alloy charge cooler, Pro alloy intake, 3" exhaust. On a different Dyno I have seen 306bhp with same mods.

I guess a lot depends on the Dyno and other conditions as is the way with all Dyno figures.

Unfortunately I don't have figures prior to any of those mods.

I don't think the OEM top hat is much of a restriction for circa 300 HP TBH.

The large style stage 4 one MMG one comes with bigger pipework and tophat so I would guess you would need a bigger or better flow.

 

Im guessing if its CC you might get away with it

 

List the mods and we can work out if it can make a genuine 300bhp. People like to quote packs and high number but unless its got a genuine dyno graph I fail to believe.

the oem top hat is smallest section on the intake section , excluding the intake ports. on the exhaust side , its the turbo and wastegate plus the expansion ratio
