Electric Throttle Water Ingress

Has anyone ever had this issue? Car wouldn't start the other day while in a doctor's surgery car park 😂. After a lot of swearing and diagnosis we figured the throttle wasn't responding to pedal input, after checking the connectors behind the passenger rear wheel I decide to take the black cover off the throttle body. Inside was soaking wet, there was water all over the tiny wiring that connects to the circuit board in there. The rubber seal seems in good condition and does look to have leaked so I'm a little puzzled as to how it got wet. I've been driving the car for 3 years all year round and not experienced this issue before.

It is common?

Not common afaik.

If for an NA, you can get an oem TB cheap, as there are loads that did a 68mm conversion for an SC.

 

Might be condensation getting in there from the air in the pipework (ie the inlet air) possibly? If you do lots of short runs this might be the culprit, often there is a gap in the butterfly spindle joint that would allow air in to the internals of the TB...
