Picked up a dashcam from amazon sale, wondering where I should mount it. I could use the traditional position behind the mirror but would mean securing in the cable around the window, there is a gap but would need something to hold it in place. Or could mount it in the middle of the front screen but at the bottom, is that legal? Other option is to mount it on the rear window facing forwards, but would mean reduced visibility out the back window.

What did you guys do?

Just wired in front and rear cameras to the VX.  Front camera is at the top of the windscreen. I don't have the standard humungous VX mirror instead a small Halfords stick on one which makes it easier.  Power lead goes to the left with stick on cable thingies ( quite tidy and not visible from outside) down the side, under the trim and then along under passenger sill inner edge to the hard wiring setup behind the passenger seat taking power from the ciggy lighter.  The rear camera lead goes the other way and down the driver side window, under the trim, under the passenger sill, under the bottom edge of the rear parcel shelf and then up alongside the passenger seat edge (camera is off centre on the passenger side).  On/Off switch in the driver side cubby hole.
