So MoT, service, insurance and stuff all done for another year........sorted till May 2020 👍

When I bought the Vx, this forum was pretty active and I attended meets, couple of Nationals, other social stuff - did some tracks and the Vx got used.

I’ve done around 1k miles in the last 2 years, and although I still love a spirited drive now and again, I’m choosing my motorbike for weekend fun pretty much every time over the Vx. Not knocking the community here, just that I have little time these days 😞

I still love the look of her on a sunny day, but recently I just felt it was old.....like me lol 😂

At what point did you guys lose that love? Did you sell up and regret, or keep?

Just interested in other opinion. I’m keeping another year at least - booked on the Silverstone Classic weekend this year, so at least it gets an outing over the bike ☺️☺️

Cheers guys 👍

Hi Rudy,

8 years in and although I've looked back on the miles I’ve covered between MOTs over the last few years (just a couple of K per year), I’m still loving having the VX there for sunny days.

Tax/insurance/service cost a bit per year, but not much in the grand scheme and the residuals are strong....can’t see any point in the near / medium future to part with mine as they are such a great fun vs cost car and I’m not well enough off to be able to afford something more modern that would provide half as much fun...they don’t make em like that anymore, and never will.

Let’s just agree to get some more miles in to bring the miles/£ average down,

Enjoy!

12.5 years and my love for the vx220 is totally dead, probably started a few years ago to be honest, but it's gone.

Only done 600 miles in the last three years and it costs me £4 per mile + fuel each year

Mine will be up for sale sooner rather than later.

Don't bring me into this. My 7 year itch started after 7 months. £4 per mile? I wish. I think mines running at more like £700 per mile at the moment.

something with either a straight 6 or V8 engine

M2 comp, Polestar 3.0 or a Hellcat - but I would have to convert it to RHD for something to do

I've lost the love too. Not thinking about selling up as I've no idea what I'd get in its place. I was at a low with it and needed some help sorting it out. It happens every now and then so I took it to someone who 'knows what they're doing'. Had a bad experience which plunged me into complete despair with it. I could have just burned it! I did last years national and felt a little lack lustre about it all. MOT'd it last year and it's sat in the garage ever since. MOT still on passenger seat. Obviously project house and little un have taken my time up but generally CBA with it.

I've lost the love for mine a fair bit too about a year or 2 ago (currently owned for about 11 years). I still like driving it and have done tens of thousands of miles in it, but facing big jobs on it is now a pain the arse. I've been "meaning" to fit a new gearbox for about 6 months now and still haven't hauled my arse into the garage to do it.

Still, on the bright side I'm stopping working now for a year or two, so I'll have more time.

What do you do Nev? It sounds like you have a great job if you can stop for a year or two!

I've gone through waves of hatred for mine over the last few years but usually a good jolly round the highlands makes me like it again. For a while at least. So if you're not feeling the love get the wee bastard out for a decent run! Get yourself on the hoon. If you still hate it after taking it up the north west of Scotland then it's definitely time to sell up.

Lost love for the car or lost love for driving in general?

Gone are the days I would friends, or finish at the pub for an evening and go for a drive in the night.

In either car, aimless other than local favourite roads.

Pot holes, speed cameras on the good bits, life in general just means I don't so much.

Last 3 years VX has done 1000 miles or so not much more.

I have cycled further each year.

Main car has done only 6000 for the whole year, previous years I have done 12-15000 in the VX alone.

Still love the car, other night going home was late and yes the headlights are still poor, made more obvious now the main car has LED moving and automatic headlights but dry country lanes the VX felt fast more so than has in a while.

Love is still there but is no longer an all consuming passion.
