Have been enjoying watching all the Bedford videos (some great 360s in there!) and photos on FB guys, looks like despite the weather you all had a good time!

 

So, after spectacularly failing to convince any of you to swap your black interior/seats for my wonderful beige bits   I am left looking at other options.

 

Got some quotes to reupholster seats and door insert/shoulder and costs are coming in from £1k to £3k. Given I could buy two relatively good replacement seats for about £1k I am not sure what to do if I go this route for the seats - would a reupholster be better than spending the money on aftermarket seats?

 

I also got my carbon tank cover on the group buy, must say I like carbon! Eltech do door cards and handle surrounds for around £250 which seems like a good option, but would mean going on that very expensive carbon route for other interior bits, also that doesn't sort out the problem of the beige door shoulders which would need to be black.

 

I also saw this on ebay https://www.ebay.co....ds/202659784183 could be a relatively cheap solution? Also could sell my seats and door cards, but would there be a desire for anyone to have my beige ones?

MX5 owners and MGF owners tend to buy the beige vx220 seats as they are lighter than theirs and a similar colour, so yes they will sell on ebay

 

the blue interior is the cheapest option, but it is quite easy to blow £3k on the interior, just depends what you want and your budget.

Personally I would buy black shoulders ( they are cheap) , paint the triangles in black, cover the panels by myself with leather or alcantara, or paint them.
Then I would have the OEM seats re-trimmed to get a good look and more wear resistance.

Personally in your situation, I would buy the ebay black leather bits for the cards and shoulders or just buy spares, and get some Tillett B5s so you can put your biscuit in the attic for when you sell the car, or just sell the biscuit now for peanuts.

You will save compared to the retrim costs you quote above, and the B5's are epic!

Thanks for quick replies guys. Budget wise probably at the £1k end of it. 

 

I am handy with respraying etc. so can do the handle surround black myself. 

Where can I buy the door shoulders in black? I would prefer to get direct replacement rather than a cover off ebay?

 

Put a wanted ad up on here or Facebook, and keep an eye on ebay they do come up.

I originally did my biscuit bits with the Black dye/spray/rub kit from Woollies and it looked excellent. I've recoloured lots of leather seats in cars this way, its a cheap option and if done right no-one will ever know your biscuity secret, so that's what I would do. 

 

The blue door sections on my current interior are done with a Woolies colour match kit.

 

Tried the ebay leather bits and they look good if you spend the time on them and don't mind a non-oem look, great for hiding cracked plastic sills. Pete has a good point too about chucking the biscuit in the attic as an original interior will help resale value.

You could go for the full alloy look and get some kirkey seats.  Not for my but it'd be interesting!

Had a great chat with a chap on FB called Ross...he has a pretty big leadtime but liking his ideas! I think I have settled on alcantara covered door cards and shoulders along with a retrim of the seats in black leather and blue alcantara centres.

are the shoulders leather or vinyl? Have had reasonable success with halfords vinyl paint on door cards. Or use proper leather dye if they are leather.

 

should be very DIYable.

Nobby had his interior done for about £1k

I recently enquired about having my seats redone as have wear on the drivers bolster, I was amazed at the cost given they are only little and not overly complicated from what I can see!!
