So my plan was to go on a short Euro tour this summer, that's now not going to happen so I'm looking towards next year and potentially changing the destination to Ireland!

I've never been so really looking for suggestions on where to go/roads to follow. Likely to be getting the ferry from Anglesey to Dublin and want to do a circuit around the lower half of Ireland over 3-5 days.

I'd love to do a road trip around Ireland, but I've heard the 'good' (i.e. not main) roads are in worse nick (potholes etc.) than the UK and hence not very VX-friendly. Or is that old/fake news?

6 cars went from mine last year round Ireland clockwise, Fishguard to rosslare, back via Belfast, we tried to do too much in too short a time, but we'll worth the trip, welcome to stop at mine en route, st clears west Wales, 50 mins from Fishguard

I hadn't even bothered looking at prices for the ferry but I'll keep my eye out then.

Some excellent advice and offers! Very early stage of planning for me, don't even know if the wife wants to come along or how long it'll be.

Hopefully the roads aren't 'that' bad as although it's a driving holiday I'm not really interested in fast driving, more a case of take the scenery in while driving a lovely car.

We had a couple of less enthusiastic wives, we still had a great time, some of the roads we used were not great but scenery fantastic, n Ireland coast road is a must, we did a bit of touristy stuff as well, sone great beaches for car shots

As Wallace said to the chicken (which was a penguin in disguise) " "it's you"
