Vectra Cam Dtc

I have a mate at work who's had a real run of bad luck , the first being putting the wrong plugs in his 2.2 vectra .
Resulted in damaged valves , anyway the motorfactors washed their hands of it so he ended up having it repaired. On start up it misfired so they put a pattern coil pack on misfire solved , only this resulted in the cam error everyday . So he got another pattern make this put the light on every week . So he tried just a genuine second hand trigger pack but still gets the light coming on after idling for long periods .
Next step is to get the one off my vx when I get the lid open 😁 but just wondered if it could be down to lack of compression or the pattern coil pack more likely .
I know this has been asked loads on here just trying to help him

what error code is he getting with the oem coilpack? (after long idling)

can also be incorrect cam chain timing, but 99% of the time it's caused by the coilpack. Avoid pattern coilpacks, they are shite.

Thanks for the replies , I'm not 100% on DTC because he had forgotten🙄 but when he first got it the search on here come up with the code that everyone seems to have for cam phase .
The coil on at the moment is the second pattern one but with the eBay genuine ignition module .
I'm getting him to put the whole thing on and try it .
Next will be try mine
Be interesting to see what the ecu sees on that input and why it doesn't like it .

Just to end the tale of woe , the oem second hand coil pack has been on for a while and no cam sensor code so the problem is in the cheap coils and not module n the top I would think .

The only problem now is p0420 🙄 driving from thurrock to sunny tunny on three did his cat no favours .
