Turbo/manifold Heat Shield Question Need Advice Quick

Hey people just booked my car in for some work at the local garage, and also noticed my turbo heat shield is flopping about and worn out, really needs replacing.

I noticed it is all over the shop shielding the manifolds, the turbo, there is a lower part too i think.

Is it all necessary ? it's the corrugated type aluminum sheeting stuff that creates a chimney type affair.

 

Question is can I take all that off and just fit this?

 

Does the heatshield have to cover all of the manifold lower down and the turbo or will this work?

Not sure how critical it all is but i do know mine is flapping about and broken and it has to go.

i need to sort this asap as only have 2 more days off and them I'm away on a course for a while and then back to drop car in for work.

Its a stage 2 Turbo with VXR Turbo if that makes any difference.

I also have a hard intake pipe made of metal not silicone if that matters.

Is it really just the actuator that needs protection from the heat or is it the actuator intake pipes, and back of the engine

bay or is it fine with just that cover above that i posted.

The vx uses the heataheilds to also protect various hoses and the bulkhead. It is designed as a chimney drawing air from the undertray up and out the boot vent.

Common issue for the material to fatigue but either repair or replace

Not sure the item in that link will do much on a vx220

Few places that will have them but also 2nd hand option and or buy some nibus / style material and copy the broken bits

yes actuators get expensive when you keep having to change them due to radiant heat
