Vx220 Specialist - Fault Finding

Anyone know of a decent VX220 specialist in the UK who can deal with electrical fault finding?
Need someone with in-depth knowledge of the car. Distance isn’t too much of an issue as the car will need to be shipped there anyway.

Massive saga and too long to go into Chris (think I’ve started about 3 threads on it haha), but the skinny is it won’t start (does occasionally) then won’t. Replaced most engine bay components etc.

Massive saga and too long to go into Chris (think I’ve started about 3 threads on it haha), but the skinny is it won’t start (does occasionally) then won’t. Replaced most engine bay components etc.
He has a few issues;
Main problem is/was the buzzing noise, but he has/had a wrong MAP and IAT signal and on top of that a too low engine system voltage. (~7volt measured at the ecu...)

Vocky is selling a complete new chassis loom - nuclear option! But surely that would solve it...

Hi mate I’m a new member but have had VX from the beginning of time. Had most problems reported on this site and a few others. My VX suddenly refused to start I tried lots of things, no luck, called out RAC they replaced stuff no luck. They left to discuss it with tech guys. I then disconnect battery and refitted, it started. Fixed ? No it did it again a few days later, disconnected battery again, started. So I cleaned all the main battery and other wire connections. That did it. Assume management system loosing power in a way that messed it up. Long shot but you must be pulling your hair out I was.
Thanks mate! Yeah, I've tried everything I can think of, plus lots of help / pointers from experienced members here, but I have to realise my own limitations. Replaced the battery terminals and all earth wires etc.
Been off the road for nearly a year now because of it.

Did you ever try another ecu?

Shitty earths or damage to the wire between the fuse box an the ECU. Had one break down within the insulation.
If your getting 7v at the ECU but 12v at the battery end. Obvious place to start.

He measured >12volt at the battery terminals and only 7-9volt at the X2 connector pin(s), so something is probably dodgy at the fusebox side. Car just needs some methodical fault finding...
(And replacing the entire car loom in a VX is not an easy task... )

have you put in a jump wire (from the battery to the plug) to rule out the wiring from battery to plug?

So we're talking the wiring that goes into the chassis, through to the fuse box at the front end wheel arch?
I can have a look at the fuse box for dodgy connectors or split wires going in.
Earths have all been replaced (including cables and terminals), also ran a jump lead direct from the battery to the engine, and no difference.

Which plug do you mean Chris?
Oh and if you mean the X1 plug (big 4-pin plug), I checked that and it was recieving battery voltage (12.4v ish)

ECU, wrong key, no fuel, blockage fuel line. Water in fuel, no fuel pressure. Don’t get stuck just on electrics. All you can do is tick them off one at a time. Good luck hope you sort it soon.

big X1 plug = 12.4v (goes to starter relay and feed of the K18 relay)
X2 pin 5 (green) measured only 9v (comes from fusebox 7) Ecu shows this 9volt in the logs. Drops to 7volt on starting...
X2 pin 1 unknown; should be 12.4v when K18 is activated. (ground pin X2-12; green/pink wire)
X3 pin 13 unknown (should be always >12v from fusebox 8. Ecu back-up feed)

Yeah, tried all of those. Car will start ok if left disconnected from the battery for a while. Further starts are the issue.
So its a wiring / earthing / voltage issue related to the engine control / sensors.
