Vxt Exhaust Manifold Stud Removal

Can anyone offer any tips on removing manifold studs - Can heat be applied to the area around the stud or is there danger of damaging the head - Thanks in advance

stick 2 nuts on it... tighten them together then use the inner one and screw off. 

For intact studs I always had good results with such roller based stud removers/installers:

Some heat application on the head should help as the alu will expand more than the steel of the stud and help loosen it.

If the stud is broken off then welding a nut on the end usually gets enough heat in the system to be able to remove it as well.
