Upgrading The Gear Selection Mechanism

I found the original sheet-metal gear selection (below) to be too flimsy to my liking and looked for an upgrade.

I found InoKinetic's https://www.inokinet...lotus/shiftr111 system for Elise and it looked like that it could potentially fit. Today, after spacing some connections and using longer M8 bolts to attach it to the chassis, I made it to work.

If I would be a bit more of a fabricator, I could have gotten one of these http://k-tuned.3dcar...and-cables.html and designed a mounting mechanism for the lever + handbrake. But not this time

I'm happy to say that the system works and that the Elise/Exige reverse lockout mechanism can be dismantled as the 5-speed F23 gearbox doesn't need it. This feels a lot more solid now, but it also highlights how much play there is at the gearbox end. No test drives yet, we still have snow on the ground here in Finland.

Yea, the pricing is stupid. But when there is no competition, you can set what your audience is willing to pay. The K-tuned gear looks to be much more competitively priced, but would then require special fabrication to mount + figure out how to bracket the hand brake. If you would need to source that out, the price would again climb to stupid territory.

Force required isn't massively different, or if it is I didn't pay too much attention to it previously. I hated how the entire thing flexed when rowing through the gears, hence this solution. For optimum feel and as little slop as possible one would potentially need to spring the gearbox side of the selection lever to restrict it's overall movement and add resistance.
