I have a day off today. Started looking at my VX sat in the garage thinking ‘what a mess’ either get it sorted or get rid of it.

So I trawled through some old clips of mine, just to remind myself how much fun this little car has given me.

I streamed it through my big TV. It was a video from many years ago. Not the quickest laps for me there, but I remember that day like it was yesterday.

Back then, my car was running at 259bhp M62 (yes, it sounds bloody noisy and the video quality and view out isn’t great) but, I had just had my car tweaked from around 240bhp and had new quantum zeros fitted.

I love Castle Combe, it is fast, small and suited my car. The weather was brill, and there were Caterhams there (usually very amicable for a bit of fun)

It video starts out slow, but after a few laps you get in the groove. It then felt so flippin invincible.

Post up one of your most memorable and vivid VX or other car track day clips and say why it was memorable to you.

Here’s mine...

I’ve never driven Blyton Park, but it looks a tight little track. Nice driving too!

I enjoyed this chase trying to catch up with Lee’s SC Harrop’d car, (I think it was driven by GeorgeBC) in my SC M62 VX at the Snetterton 300 circuit. It may have been at a VX National.

Come on boys n girls, let’s see your vids.

Chasing Jez in his Honda was also fun...

Chris, are you running an enclosed air filter? Your M62 is nice and quiet compared to my car? I need to address this issue.

Bloody good to see you’re back again Jimmy. It’s been a while since I’ve seen your name here.

What’s with the covered dash? Have you gone soft?

You were always a handy driver, it will be good to catch up soon.

Car looks v rapid here amazing what a difference another 50bhp makes above mine at the end of the straights... Handling looks brilliant your apex speeds are very high can't believe this was 5 years ago!  :)

Nice pedaling!

It’s a Vocky engine build and its always been quick. however, with a hot engine, roll cage and passenger onboard, it’s a little slower than it could be. The additional weight is noticeable through corners and terminal velocity the end of the straights.

Your car is very quick and so are you. But, you are right, my extra 50 ponies does give it the edge whilst also compensating for the driver.

I think the reduction in weight also has a lot to do with the cars performance, and that you were using V70A's at the time.. they were hands down the best dry semi slick, not sure how they compare with the R888R tho, but certainly back then they were head and shoulders above the rest, its just a shame they didn't actually have more tread to start with.

Yes, I’m still on V70A’s.I don’t think my car is particularly light now. All the interior bits weigh very little. My Roll Cage is a tardy 61kgs. That said, if I didn’t remove most excess weight from the car, I’d be as slow as Joe!

I haven’t tried R888R tyres, but I’ve been informed they are very good. ultimately, I have more experience with Kumho tyres and I prefer their much stiffer sidewalls.

The video clip of mine below again at Snetterton 300 and at the same time, but with no passenger, highlights that less weight does mean that you will be quicker on track. My apex speeds and terminal velocity at the end of the straights is higher, not by huge margins, but it is noticeable on a lap.

What does your car weigh Chris? I’ve no idea what power or upgrades you have carried out? Have you done any track days on the Snetterton 300? Hopefully, once this CVirus has ended, we could arrange for mini VX gathering?

Hey Max :)

Yeah it's nice to pop by and see what's what.  A few familiar names popping up but looks like an all together new crowd on here.  Defo up for a mini meet, just hope the national goes ahead!!

A few of us are still lurking. If the race season is completely cancelled I will be trying to get along to the National :)
