I’m going to get my VX on track by May by whatever means I can. It’s been sat for a very long time looking pretty sad. I think it’s been a good 4 years or so?

I almost sold it on several occasions when friends made me offers. I came close twice but pulled out at the last moment.

I guess she’ll end up dead or broken on track at some point and then recycled by Joe back into the community.

But I will be getting her fully refreshed by BOT and hopefully fit for purpose again.

I’ve had several track days in other cars over the past few years but miss the old analogue feel.

I had a look at several track day videos of fellow VX pilots, many of which are pretty damn good drivers! A good majority of VX drivers always seem to be up there with the best on track.

Anyway, my orange VX may be painted a different colour, but she certainly won’t be a prize winning show queen, that’s for sure.

Omg some of my personal track videos I’ve viewed on YouTube now look dated and the video & sound quality is just awful.

What’s a cheap but good quality camera people recommend? Also any ideas on a simple software to add some data overlays over the video?

I hope to see a few of you on track this year for some OAP track action with you youngsters.

Max

Wow, the other end of the country to me, as I'm a northerner, (Wirral, Merseyside)

The furthest I venture is Donnigton park, I'm going on 20th April with MSV if you are around ?

I drove Donnington last year for the first time. It’s an amazing track and pretty fast.
I’d like to do Cadwell again in the VX. The last time there was at least 10 years ago! Time flies by!

Oulton I’ve done recently, it’s another great, great fast track.

I doubt if my car will be ready by the 20th April, but I will try my best to get her track ready by then.

Oulton is my local 45mins away, Donny is prob my favourite, but Caldwell I love also but a pain for me, towing, a good 3 1/2 hours.

I've got

Oulton 24th March

Donnigton 29th April

Anglesey on 4th May

Caldwell 10th June

Croft 3rd July

Oulton 27th Oct

And hopefully 2 or 3 between July and Oct.

I'm getting really excited now and feel like a kid again 😀.

I'm looking at maybe switching Cadwell to September 16th and going to the National but I need 2 nights off work and a pass out from the Mrs for a Saturday day.

It would be great if I saw more VXs on track but don't see many unfortunately.

Have you finished the remodelling or are you just putting standard clams etc., back on?

I’ve actually done a lot of body work on the sides and front. The vast majority of it is now complete. The coupe back will also be done before it returns to track. But, the rear however will probably be just a gaping hole P1 style. I’m not happy with resolving it and won’t have time before the summer. I’ll probably just strengthen it, add black grill mesh with lights behind until it’s done properly.

Unfortunately, this is just the preparation of the buck essentially. The Moulds will need to be made from these at some point by a specialist company over winter. I hope it doesn’t crack too much when I use it on track! I will be strengthening it with several support layers and it will be bolted on properly at least.

Joe,

Yes, your message did prod me into action. I also want to do a couple of track days with you and your orange flymo.

Awesome, what was the weather like at Cadwell today ?

Yeh I'd love to go the national and put faces to names, but it keeps landing on when I'm working 🙄

Some of the go pro knock offs are pretty good quality now or an older version of go pro.

Racerender is good for adding overlays from racelogic or other data gatherers.

My last race was at Donny, best race I've had.

Quality isnt as good but better to watch from the other car though.

Fab race ZB. You clearly feel comfortable behind the wheel! Nice catch and very tidy driving.

Are you running a standard gearbox or 4.17 now?

Donny is a lovely flowing circuit, it must also suit a reasonably powered lightweight car.

When I was there, a radical was Absolutely flying around making a mockery of everything on track.

When’s your next race?

I use a 4.41 final drive now!

I've bought a caterham for this years racing, only driven it once so far and the first race is the 21st march so I need to get used to it quickly!

Mark has decided to come and do some proper racing with me and Vimes

I'm expecting big things from him.
