Car's been ticking for ages.  Tick's gradually become a 'noise'.

What's the options for replacing said manifold?  I've got a Miltek system on there but I've no idea to what extent - all I know is that the tips say 'Milltek' and there's a bill in the car's history for about £1600.  Would that have included the manifold?  Do I need a specific one to fit the Milltek?

Also, I've had the car (and it's 145bhp) for a couple years now.  More power would be nice.  Is this an opportunity to buy more power?  Are throttlebodies still a stupid idea?  Not sure I'll manage supercharger money : (

Miltek never made a manifold afaik.

Replace back to stock is quite affordable http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=382032267418

A decent manifold will not bring you more power on a stock engine.
You need a lot more mods before something like a tullett manifold makes sense.

As for ITB versus SC, make sure to read up on pro's and con's.

As sexy as the ITB sounds, it's journey is a bit more complex then SC, which is proven practice by now, and community owned.

ITB not so much.

Are ITBs really much cheaper? you can ghetto supercharge for around £2k? Given the amount of faff with ITBs you will have a lot more hassle, less power and similar costs with mapping etc.

I just SCed my car and its become the car it should have been

ITBs can be done in stages to manage costs, but it isn’t cheap...,
Amazing driving experience though, best set up for decent b and a roads by far...

Ok - maybe it is a matter of taste.... The key is understanding what you want out of the car and going from there. For some that will be turbo, for there it will be sc, itb and for some just a std NA

OK so throttlebodies may have been a daft idea.  I thought maybe they were a cheap (ish) way to an extra 50BHP and make the car sound like a sports car should, but maybe not.

Now I'm having improper throughts about a supercharger, but £5.5k from Jon Seal?!  That's half the value of the car (on a good day... during the summer).  I dont have the space, tools or skills to go at it myself (otherwise £2k would be doable)

I dont doubt it.

Which way would you send the car if the budget was there?  Jon Seal?  Or elsewhere?

The last thread I read on here about where to S/C a car ended up in a massive bun fight between members and Jon Seal :D

I would send it to Exmantaa in The Nethelands, but i don't think that is an option for you.

These conversions have been done to death for over a decade now.

They just skyrocketed with the introduction of obdtuner, giving more freedom in this.

You either feel more comfortable using a company like Jon's, or are fine with a private person like Chris or Joe doing it.
With either you can discuss in detail what to expect, and if/where to use used parts to keep costs down a little.
The days of putting your wallet on the desk at Courtenay and hope for the best are long gone.

Does that mean Jon no longer offers the conversion service, and it's you and Joe from now onwards?

correct, in part at least, Jon no longer offers the service no, I don't know joe's stance on the situation atm.

I'm more than happy to do the conversions tho.

Can you just get a 2.4 intake and larger throttle body? I ask as I don't know. Probably liven the engine up a little
