from memory the upper side is not able to be split

ah you know what it is, I bought the EP full shaft with both UJs and the top is welded, oem was 2 x UJs.

There are variants on these.  Early ones were bolt-on at both ends, later ones are welded at one end.  I've not seen one welded at both ends....yet!

Mine appear to be bolted at both ends... So presume the Elise part one fits

iirc on mine the splines on the shaft had worn, not the UJ

have you tried tightening the bolt up as tight as you can? loads of times ive fixed play in the UJ by just giving it a tug and its stopped it even tho it didn't even seem to move the bolt/nut.

Yeah the slop is coming from the UJ itself. It's not rocking on the spline unfortunately. 🥺

The answer is no... Not the same. Upper joint is square keyed into top of column and splined for all other joints.... Now trying to find a new upper UJ where it won't cost me 60 pounds to ship to Australia! 😠
