I'm having issues with my turbo, it's got a lumpy idle and the throttle is unresponsive. It will sometime rev, but only to about 1500rpm, but mostly the throttle pedal does nothing.

I have done some investigations, but nothing has cured it yet.

All electrical connections check and sprayed with contact cleaner (including loom plugs behind expansion tank).
New spark plugs.
Checked and cleaned injector plugs.
Swapped throttle body for spare.
Swapped coil pack for spare.
New battery fitted as the old one wasnt holding charge for very long.
All fuses and relays seem fine.
Engine & chassis earths were cleaned up last year.

Please see the attached video to see the engine idling.

No engine fault light. What else do you think I should try?

Do you have any way of getting some live data? Op-com would be ideal.

Could be the pedal itself...

If you can get a lend of a scangauge, you can display the throttle position sensor...

I have opcom, I'll have a play around with it as soon as I have some free time. Cheers

vacuum hose come off

or a hole in the boost hose , typically just by the turbo outlet. you can cut off the damage section and still have enough to refit

Unplug the MAF as a test as well.

Just having a look at the car again now. Tried a few things. I had a broken plug on the throttle, so managed to source a new one and re pin it. It didnt solve anything, but at least I dont need cable ties on it anymore!

Anyway, I decided to check out my engine earth. I ran a jump lead direct from the battery to the engine. Car started up and seems to be running fine. I cleaned the engine/chassis earths in 2019 or 18 as they were corroded. I'll clean them up again but surprised that they would be giving me an issue so soon. While the engine was running I removed the jump lead. Engine continued to run but when I blipped the throttle it cut out and wouldn't restart until I put the jump lead back on. Tried that same test again but engine continued to run normal and didnt cut out. It seems an intermittent problem.

I have come across this on migweb, https://www.migweb.c...roblems.329009/

Would this be relevant to a VX220? Could be worth investing.

I just found one split vacuum connector on the solenoid valve under the inlet manifold. I changed it but for what ever reason the car will not start now! So frustrating.

When I turn the ignition on I am getting a noise from the throttle. Took the pipe off and observed it was the butterfly opening and closing fast. See video. I've never heard it do this before. http://cloud.tapatal...0611_171319.mp4

I managed to get the car to start my hitting the start button while the throttle was fluttering as in the above video. It's clear now the butterfly just isnt opening enough for it to idle or rev.

I have some screen shots now from OPCOM.

This first is with the engine idling (very poorly). Foot off the throttle.Posted Image

This is with foot fully down on throttle. No change in engine revs. TP sensor readings dont alter.Posted Image

Update. Seems I have sorted it. I'm putting it down to a bad earth on the ECU. It had a 13 ohm resistance when I tested it, which I managed to get down to 1 ohm and its been fine ever since. I've covered 60 miles so far without issue.

As a bonus I found some split vacuum connectors on a T-piece below the inlet manifold, it's made a huge difference to the boost pressure! Smiles all round!
