can you see if the earth spade attaches to the engine block around the area where the heat shield attachesJust looked, nothing obvious to see on mine, all very tight, looking offside yes?

I took another look, can't see anything resembling spade connector or an earth wire/strap, can you send me a picture of where you're looking?
Ill try and grab a pic but basically the loom runs to the starter motor and then on to the alternator but about 3 inch after the starter motor conections a tee runs off with a spade on the end

I just had a look and can't see anything from the top either (standard tubby engine)

Hi you would not be able to see from the top. Looking from under the car there should be a bracket fastened to the bottom of the inlet manifold, this holds a small plastic vacume vessel. The bracket also bolts to the bottom of the cylinder block (just above where it meets the upper sump pan) i think the earth bolts to the same bolt i.e the one that holds the bracket to the block
I just had a look and can't see anything from the top either (standard tubby engine)
