hi, has anyone swapped their camcover bolts on the a vxt with aluminium ones? Is it a bad idea? Thanks

If it's not a load bearing part of the engine (I had a look at some photos of a 2.0t and can't see why it would be - it just appears to be an oil closure) so if you adjust your tightening torque accordingly from steel>aluminium to aluminium>aluminium it should be fine.
I have seen it and done it many times though. If I had aluminium bolts for my z22se i'd use them.

Ok great had read somewhere that they are more likely to seize in than anodised ones. I will give them a whirl just waiting on some sealant to hold the new gasket in place on fitting and I'm good to go. Thanks

Probably true as the anodising is already an inert oxide layer so less chance of crevice corrosion if water gets in, but the chances those reports are more about threading into steel.
You'll probably play with the engine more than most cars and the bolts wont be on for long, un-jiggled, so unless you are leaving it at the beach for a few years i'd not worry about it.

I really wouldn’t bother taking the risk with these. I had some decent quality Probolt ones and had one shear off with the most minimal amount of torque applied. Was a right ball ache removing the remaining stud. I don’t think corrosion is an issue but the constant heat cycle fatigue is.
Weight saving is negligible and if you want the bling factor paint the originals or put some domed caps on top.

Dab of oppo thanks for your input. Its no bling I'm after just the old ones have corroded. I have £15 worth from Pro bolt! Glad I asked this question on here!
