Since my intercooler popped a hose a few weeks ago the car has been down on power.
It is most noticeable at around 3.5k rpm In 3rd gear, the engine physically pulls back as if it has hit a wall and the whoosh noise sounds different/ flutters and is louder.

This has started recently after being SORN since November. The only thing I would mention is that after the RAC had got me back on the move following the intercooler hose incident I noticed the screen wash bottle was not secured properly and was nearly empty. Looks like it had leaked down on the battery, not sure if anything else in the front compartment could cause the issue if got wet?

The car is in for service/ MOT next week so I’m after advise on what easy steps to check first while the undertray is off before I start spending on coils packs, Mafs etc.

The car is a stage 4 if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

Was the car driven any distance with low coolant after the hose popped?

If you drove any distance at all with a massive boost leak i.e. intercooler pipe off, the turbo could been killed from over speeding. Worth checking the basics first though like any boost or vacuum hose leaks or damaged recirc valve diaphragm.

As far as I’m aware once an intercooler pipe pops off it pretty much kills the power instantly, that’s what seemed to happen anyway and the engine wouldn’t start until the pipe was reconnected. I have heard a few owners have had the recirc valve issue so will definitely ask for that to be checked, cheers.

Exactly when this happens the car won’t drive and stalls so no way you broke the turbo.

Faulty turbo doesn’t loose power at a set rev range then power comes back in, it just smokes and let’s oil past or just explodes and you will know about it.

Might need a dyno session where the fuel air and boost leaks can be found.
Also worth checking the actuator incase that’s stopping the boost and the power falls off.

Check your fuses. Blown aux water pump fuse will cause this problem.

As said check all vac lines and operation of the recirc and control solenoids first

Which fuse would that be? Can’t see a specific one for that in the manual?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Presuming the water aux fuse was ok and there was no defective boost/ vac pipes found, boost leak/ smoke test was done, would this be the ideal order to start replacIng items?
Change both solenoids
Recirc valve
Wastegate actuator
Map sensor
Coil pack
Plugs
Maf

Anything I have missed or dyno session before changing any of above?

Just to update on this, had the car in for service and mot today and was a simple boost hose fix thankfully.
