Read the guides, looked at the access to remove the wiper assembly and decided to remove the wiper motor from the assembly with the assembly still in the car, really really easy, remove the arm from the motor, undo the 3 bolts, pull out the motor, it's easy if you have an assembly out of the car to look at first . Bought one off eBay with a working motor, maybe 10 minutes to change the motor this way. Tried cleaning mine using the excellent guide but it's still duff.

Unsurprisingly, you are a better man than me! I struggled with the whole nonsense so paid SW Lotus to do it instead!

Once you see the bolts you need to undo it's very easy, even by feel as the nuts are underneath the assemblyUnsurprisingly, you are a better man than me! I struggled with the whole nonsense so paid SW Lotus to do it instead!

Yeah, it's the small one in the front compartment. Not the one at the other end. HTH.

It's been suggested that the motor itself (not the bracket/mechanism bolted to the car) is originally from a Citroen AX.
Eg:

Seems similar, but never seen a real 'yes/no' on that.

I have a spare bracket assembly now so I could try an AX one for the good of the community...Looks similar, mounting looks similar too, might try that next time
