Now, my car was agreed at £21,000 and the track day excess was 10% so minus £2100. I was told by ERS that anything over 60% will write the car off, and with the quotes I was getting back this would be the case.

That must have been some damage. 60% by my calculation is £12,600. You could buy a reasonable condition whole VX for that!
You could buy many things for £12,600, but that's besides the point. ;) The list of parts needed and labour charged with VAT on top, went just past that figure. A third one from a local body shop was much more and ERS were happy to except with no questions asked. We all know we can fix these cars quite easily and have many talented people on here, who do work for great cheap rates. One of which will be doing mine. I have full control and can spend the money wisely while getting a great deal on parts.

Good outcome Stuart from a non believer and I have just renewed. I've valued mine at £13.5k though. You've obviously got far more goodies on the car than I have!

Half the value is in the engine and I wanted a figure equal to what it would cost to fix the car if a total loss. I would never sell the car for that amount. It's just worth that in parts and more.

£21,000 does sound high but these cars are hard to value when they're not standard as you never know what buyer is waiting. Where did you get your valuation from?

MBR did mine some years back now. This was sent to ERS and they come back with no quibbles. They wanted a list of parts which came to that cost alone.

I have a agreed valuation pay out on mine with Hederson Taylor , Mine was mirrored across from Classic line .£21000 + is easily achieved with the cost of the car and  doing many expensive upgrades    :D

£21k 👍 Who did the valuation if you don't mind. I'm with HT but never pulled my finger out and sorted the agreed value. Be good to get an honest price reflecting what it would cost to replace. ETA, just seen it was MBR

How comes the track days are now down to 5?

I insured with them about 3 months ago and it was 6 track days.

I posted this many times but was ignored. I did push them for an answer and was told it was unlimited as you could buy as many additional ones as you liked, only 5 are included in the annual premium though.

For extra info,  if the VX  (Exige) is the only car in your name they cant insure you.

If your young (Lauren) they actually work out a very good price against compare the market types.

Renewal time again. When I first signed up with HT I had full NCD on the car. After being with him for 2 years, I said I was going to shop around because I didn't want to lose my NCD and he said he would be able to keep it, so I insured with him again.

Phoned around and was told by one insurance company that the NCD probably has not been kept and they have had quite a few people with the same issue with Matthew. Unless he can provide proof from the underwriter then it's gone, and it seems he can't do that because it was never on the policy :(

Didn't think there was NCD on most of these specialist policies as they're more often than not based on "classic" policies. In 15 years of insuring the VX, it's made no difference anyway with whoever I've insured with.

He's just replied to my email saying he will send it through shortly and couldn't do it last week while the policy was still in force. So if I need to I'm happy to retract my previous post and apologise, depending on what he sends me.

Interesting, doesn't apply to me as I started a new policy with HT from scratch but would be interested in outcome in case I decide to move policy at some point

He sent me an NCD proof on Henderson Taylor headed notepaper, rather from the underwriter. According to other insurers I spoke to, this is not worth the paper it's written on
