Slight change of plan with the shell. I found this for half the cost of the retrim, it's brand new but needs a small stitching repair and I don't mind the logo because at least it doesn't say Lotus on it lol.

Looking forward to fitting when I finish getting the box work done with Joe and Vocky.

Might sell the shell on if anyone wants, if not I'll keep it for possible future gelcoat and wrapping.

All fixed but not in the car yet, but first chance to see the new drivers seat alongside the passenger seat, and I'm well chuffed!

Toying with the idea of dying all the stitching black, will have a think about it.

Run a oil temp gauge to the drain plug with a sender as they get very hot , If you are tracking race quality oil 75/90 syn5 type.

Thanks for the advice Kieran hope my solution will work. I'm copying the Hofmanns solution for their Europa race cars pushing +450bhp, by installing a laminova oil cooler (from a Land Rover), and connecting it to the engine cooling system. http://www.hofmannso...rbox-oil-cooler The pump will constantly pumps oil up through the oil cooler but once the engine cooling system thermostat opens it will pump engine coolant around the gearbox cooler. If it can keep the engine cool I'd have though it can cool the box oil easily. Oil wise I've gone for Fuchs Titan Sitofluid 75-80 which is what Opie, Hofmann's and Warren at WG Motorworks recommended.

I run a Mocul oil cooler and 12v  pump on a manual switch with temperature gauge, holding 1 litre extra oil. It works well keeping the oil temp down.

Yours is an air cooler though right? Placement as always the headache with that I guess. The waiter-oil cooler should in theory be able to go anywhere. Is there a particular temperature when you turn the pump on or even worse have to hit the pits? I might look to get a temp gauge in there too just in case I need to ease off.

I was told to use the cooler from 70oC . Fitting was a pain , I had a bracket welded on to the left hds roll bar support.

I think this way will be a much neater fit. Not sure what the engine thermostat opens up anyone know? I'd imagine more like 80-90?

Well no pics to show but the 6 speed is in thanks to Joe and Vocky. Noise wise around town it sounds like a chattery diesel because of the single mass flywheel, but the pace is INSANE! Now I've got it back typically it's pouring down with rain so today I'll look to fit my seats and harness into the car.

WOW, that Spitfire tie rod looks beefy !

 

What size threaded ball joints does it use?  M10 or M12 or even bigger ?!

You now what they say Nev, big toe links.... I think they are spitfires uprated version, not sure exactly what it's called. Gaz didn't have the normal one available within my timeframe so was good as gold sorting me these monsters. I think they may be a different grade too but it was a while ago and I've deleted the emails, I'm sure Gaz can confirm. The chassis and uprights were drilled out, I think to M12 but don't quote me. Def bigger than the OEM size. It's also got box brackets on the inside bolts, that pic was taken mid install.
