To follow on again from this thread...

http://www.vx220.org...=starter button

(still have not worked out how to edit to say clicky)

I finally spoke to the guy who made mine, and mentioned about a few people interested in him making some more, only to find he wasn't that keen as it was very fiddly and had taken him quite a long time to make!

The mates rates £5 was just as a favour would take a long time to do 10+, and said he'd do them for £10 each.
Now i'm sure this will put a lot of those interested off, but i did say i'd get back to you and let you know the outcome.

I would like to say again that i will not be making any personal financial gain! so if anyone is still interested they will be available for £10 (+30p for a stamp!)

Sorry to mess anyone about i didn't realise how long it took him on the lathe!

Sounds more like he's realised the "rip off" value.... ;) ie 10x £10 and he's onto a nice beer fund! ;) Perhaps I'm being cynical, but it certainly appears that way to me.

Use the http:// button at the top

the first screen is for the address so just paste that in

the next screen is for whatever you want to call it. eg CLICKY or STARTER BUTTON etc etc

Thanks Nick will try it next time thumbsup Cocopops your probably right but he really wasn't keen to do any more for the same as he got a little annoyed with the fiddly button he made for me. May be a better option if anyone knows someone who's handy with a lathe i have the dimensions for a button that fits and works thumbsup Sorry guys was trying to help! A little miss understanding and now it doesn't seem such a good deal!

Well a tenner doesn't seem the end of the world to me! And it'll look a lot better than the plasticky, glue-covered thing that sits there at the moment. So I'll still take one! -andy-

Cool, I've been given the number of a guy at a local metalwork shop who makes parts for a colleagues pre war MG. I'll give him a ring in the morning see if i can get them made for the cheaper price, but the £10 + postage is a definate and max cost. Should know more by lunch tomorrow. fingers crossed

If somebody knows a bloke with access to a computer controlled lathe it would be a simple set up operation then just a matter of changing the blanks! One of the engineers on the site must have a contact.... Does anyone remember who set up the poduction of the cool vx220 key rings in aviation grade aluminium? They might be able to help. (To be honest £10 doesn't sound like a huge amount though...)

I did think the plastic with glue like crap looked wrong... and couldnt be asked to investigate. Also I take it that you cant just buy it from vauxhall? I will take one with NO rings for £10 please

I remember reading somewhere that you had to but the whole starter button for vxl which was around £65 iirc.

I did ring around a few scrappys before i drew one up.

I just spoke to a guy at the metal workshop, going to take the plans and one i have made up to him tomorrow lunch see if i can sort something.

i'll let you know how i get on.

Am i right in believing that Na and T buttons are different. I.e the na ones are a crappy thin metal finish, and the Ts have an even crappier translucid thing.

The translucid thing is what's left after your original shiny "coin" has fallen out...

Think starter buttons should be the same on NA and T...

Well i hope they are the same! pretty sure the ones i have seen are the same! I have dropped the drawings and prototype button into the workshop, very B) in there. they rebuild pre war cars and race a single seater, not sure what it is though. should get back to me soon. hopefully they can do them easily. Also put me in touch with a plastics company to forward drawings for an alternative affordable grill.

well at this stage if anyone has any design ideas anything could be possible. But I was looking along the lines of a plastic grill similar to that of a popular over priced, under engineered German design. :D But of corse for legal reasons the grill to which i refer was only used for inspriational purposes!

If there are a decent number of people interested, I'm sure my Dad's company could knock up a load of these no problem. They're the company who made the VX220.org.uk aluminium key rings

funnily enough i was discussing this with Andysixspeed over the weekend, spoke to a mate in our machine shop today who said he could make some up for me no problem. There may be a possibilty of getting them machined with *VX220* or similar (although there's not much space to play with tbf) can defo do the rings though. I might get him to knock me one up and see what they come out like first i think
