God, that sounds bad :(

Don't think the 'Vauxhall VX220 sports car, made of fibreglass' comment is of much help, as I think 'collided with a row of trees' would give the same result in most cars.

As already said, awful news :(

Not good at all, this story is on the bbc news website as well. aparently he skidded on leaves on the road - very scary indeed. I think its safe to safe a vx is not the kind of car you want to be involved in an accident especially one that sounds as bad as that. :(

:o :( As usual with the fibre glass comment, the media trying to make a point that doesn't actually exist. Even if it isn't somebody on here, not good to see anything like, let alone a fellow VX'er. :(

What R1CHY said,
with the car being as rare as it is and the number of members we have, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't someone on here. :(

Very bad news indeed. Hope it was no one off here. :( The VX220 is amazingly strong and pictures have been posted in the past even of largely demolished cars where the driver has walked away from the intact ally tub. Unfortunately there are limits for all cars whatever they are made from.

Indeed, i remember after about a week of ownership - a friend that runs a breakers yard phoned me to go down and view a Blue Tubby that had hit trees @ over 80mph - the car was fooking totalled [albeit fiberglass looks worse when smashed] but this one was fooked, the engine was hanging out of it :( driver and passenger walked away with minor injuries ie cuts bruises, broken arm etc.

but i suppose its a different story if something comes through the roof or if the roof is off :( :(

Tis very sad :(

Jeez that sounds horrible. Only fatality I'd previously heard about was that Speedster one, the picture of half the car at one side of the road, half at the other, after hitting a bus. Been lovely weather this way too, skidding on some wet leaves is the sort of thing that could happen to anyone. (In any car - worst tree incident was on the road to Selby, an old Escort left the road, hit it side on, & wrapped around it such that both ends were touching).

Luck has a huge bearing in any accident, people walk away from some really horrendous accidents with scrathes. It really upsets me to hear of things like this, it will have put a big hole in a lot of peoples lives. My thoughts are with the families of both involved :(
