I have a europa blue vx220 and have some white circular spots coming through on my paintwork. I also have some small ones where you can clearly see it has a rusty color. I thought the vx220 being a glass fibre bodywork couldn't rust?? The car is in use for only 2 years now (it was a showroom car) and still have to reach 10000 miles. What's going on with my car?? I have some pics to see but you have to mail me for that. I tried to upload them by making them 50% smaller but the files were still to big. You wouldn't be able to see the spots clearly when still going smaller.

No but i work at night and the car is ouside then, winter or summer.
I also don't wash the car on a regulary basis if it doesn't look to dirty, i rinse it most of the time.
These spots i have on a surface between the nose and the windscreen.
Maybe i should go to my dealer, the car has a 10 year warranty on roost right??

The top on bottom ones look like they could have been caused by some sort of impact, and seperated the laqcuer layer... But the middle one is very strange

Not sure about an impact from like a stone or something as the spots are near the windscreen and i don't have them on the nose of the car.
But still a possible option though.
Stonechips can be at least be corrected but this comes from underneath the surface.
The second pic is very blurry but it's a rusty spot.

PS: yellow_or_black?, thanks for loading up the pics so quickly!!

Looks more like something in the actual GRP underneath, than in the paintwork itself - would this not be covered under warranty?.

What are the actual warranties on a vx220 with vauxhall dealers?? Or is there any form of document or link online about this kind of information??

Defo the laquer coming away on two of those pics. The laquer on my car is in desperate need of repairing as its coming away quite badly near the side pod vents.

Its impossible for fiberglass to rust. As a first pass you might try a Clay Bar to remove the contanimants. After that could try tcut, after the a proper rotor polish or then take it to a body shop.

Paint is 3 years, anti-perforation is 6. Anti-perforation only covers corrosion in metal, according to the correspondance I've had with Vauxhall.. Which of course is fab, in a mainly plastic car..

Yep, paint is three years. If you've got bubbling on a 4 year old car I would still try and get it sorted through a dealer as they are clearly still sorting cars through 'good will'.. Just not for me!!

I read about the so called polyesterrot that could happen on these cars. Didn't know anything about it but i went to the dealer and they adviced me to polish it some more as it would propably be stonechips. But i don't feel a thing if i glide my finger over the spots. I polished the spots a few times but without improvement. The dealer said i could come back again if they wouldn't go away with polish. I bought the car 2 years ago as a showroommodel but it was registred before by the dealer so i'm not sure that the warranty countdown begun when i bought the car or when they registrated it. I'm gonna write them an mail and tell them i will wait to see if the spots are gonna get any bigger. And if they do get bigger i will try doing it under the 3 year warranty. If the spots won't get any bigger then i think it may be from other influences on the bodywork...

I had a similar but slightly stranger experience. A couple of faint rusty brown marks apeared under the lacquer of a pearl white car I had. Really close inspection with a small microscope showed one of the stains was clearly a finger print. The paint shop's theory was that someone with some kind of ferrous dust on their fingers from grinding, sanding or similar left a finger print on the base coat. That was lacquered over and as lacquer is very slightly porous it eventually turned into rust.

Industrial fallout when left on cars (like iron filings) can often stain like that. Ive had it before when i used to contract at Corus, Scunthorpe. I used a Clay Bar with lots of patience and it all disappeared - worth a try!?
