My car has an air-con switch being used as the light switch. It works but I'd like to switch it for a propper light switch. Phoned my local main stealer and they are a bit more than I want to pay. Looking for side light and main light switches. Cheers

Try Autovaux (www.autovaux.co.uk) - best off calling them rather than emailing for a quick response.

Can't remember how much I paid for my main light switch but it was in the region of 15 - 20..................I think.

Thanks for your offer but the main stealer was only 67p off this so I'd get new. I do appreciate this is the whole lot but its only the lights I need. Thanks again, I do appreciate you posting.

these switches are servicable they just get sticky if you remove then there are a couple of tags on the back and they pull apart a small squirt of a silicon polish and they are as good as new

Think it was recommended elsewhere but you can swap the cover part of the switch over. Do you still have the old switch? The switches mechanisms are the same, just the light and cover are different as far as I know.

Thats what I'd have expected. Vxl want 30 for the headlight and 20 for the sidelight. Autovaux want 40 for the pair delivered. I knew about them when I bought it (privately) and its just one of the minor tidy-ups I was going to do. Recently done the expansion tank now residing under one of those nice covers.

Would that price perhaps include the mechanism, whereas you're only after the switch?

They are sold as complete units but a little bit of DIY can save a few quid here. I think my replacement headlight switch was 20 quid from Autovaux btw. I currently have my old headlight switch in pieces (number 2 in the above diagram) You can remove the front plastic cover then push on the correct cover. The only difference with the air-con switch will probably be the light colours. Headlight is green when ON, I think. With the covers off, all the switches look the same. Same mechanism and attachments. FLD, PM me your preferred delivery address and I will pop the switch cover in the post. I could include the switch part too (broken inside with no spring action) if you want to try and rip the lights out of it.

I'm led to beleive the switches are also in vectra's as fog light switches or something if you visit a scrappies. Still u'll need to swap covers over. Scott.
