Got home tonight and thought id have a look at the airbox. I know this has been done to death but I thought another post wouldnt hurt. 1. Took off the wheel 2. Took of the wheel arch liner 3. Undid the top hose off the airbox in the engine bay 4. Undid the other end from the throttle body and moved the pipe to the side. Unclipped the MAF sensor lead to help this. 5. Unfastened the clips from around the airbox 6. Removed the two nuts, two washers and two shakeproof washers that hold the airbox in place. One is in the engine bay just below the header. The other is visable from inside the wheel arch. 7. Wiggled the top section of the airbox and brought it out via the engine bay minding cable route and hose route. 8. Wiggled the bottom section out through the wheel arch. 9. In the top section you find the trumpet. Simply unclip and remove from the box. 10. In the bottom section i decided to just withdraw the reinforced hose so that it was secure in the box but withdrawn. When it was first in there you could see where the air was most picked up in the top corner. Obviously not a good use of the air filter. You can adjsut this to suit. 11. Putting back together is the reverse of removal. oh but dont put the trumpet in!! Fired it up and, well, emmm. A little underwhelmed actually. Wasnt as noisy as i thought it was going to be although Its definately more prominant. I didnt want to drill lots of holes in it first effort as you cant really replace holes if it was too loud. I may do this at a later date. Im sure its made next to no difference BHP wise either but the mod only takes about an hour to do so worth trying for yourself. Heres a picture of my trumpet and the clip that holds it in. Easy to reverse if you wanted too this mod.

You've got four of them, so they shouldn't be too hard to spot. thumbsup

Might be worth PMing Vocky if you can't find them as he may have tea-leafed them when he was playing about with that noise maker strapped to the front of your engine.

explaination

To avoid risk of constantly repeating myself, the thread above basically explains why you shouldn't remove the trumpets.
