I heard your indestructible box went well on Saturday ;)

well, it went well enough to take the win...

(shame a wire getting munched stopped Jamie improving his time)

Edit: is this where all the stalkers hang out?

Is he the guy that I was talking gearboxes with?

if you mean this:

then yes, that's me.

How much (guarantteed) torque can those things take please? Are they straight cut gearsets presumably?

at the moment, we are saying 500Nm, although in time, that's likely to be revised upwards (when we have had some running data from higher powered installs)

Yes, 100% straight cut, fully dogged gearset (and there is a 7 speed version).

Logically they could fit a VX easily with the mounts and shafts made for the Elise, would just need a new engine mating face part I guess...

or another way to look at it is that Jamie did not need all the session to post 1:34.894 and take the win (remind me again what the fastest VX time was?)

WTF are you doing over here mixing with the Vauxhall riffraff grumpy? And... why aren't you booked in to come to Spa? Jamie's car look epic. Question is... what times did you get down to in it?

Now, now boys. Keep calm!!!!!

Just to add........the new gearbox was faultless in every way, even if I thought I had managed to break it somehow. All that had happened is that a cable I had routed, slipped down the back of the wheelarch liner and got eaten by the spinning tyre. A simple schoolboy error that won't be repeated.

My fastest laptime of 134.2 was achieved in about 3 laps as I didn't go out for moring practice. In the final, my fastest time of 134.8 was achieved in one flying lap and I was held up on entry into mountain. Check out the lap.

After that lap, I was on what I thought to be a considerably better one, when my gearbox stopped working. Day over.

At a guess, I reckon I could have done a 1.31 ish with a little more time as I was still learning my way around. I reckon Scuffers on the other hand and given given the chance would have upset a few people!!!!! Who knows, he may even have a go at one of the rounds, we'll see...........

Jesus. How quick did you come up on that Evo or whatever it was at 1:30? :o Glad your gearbox problem turned out to be something so simple. Just one of those silly things that only experience and testing will ever highlight.

I'm in Club Pro, in which there are no drivetrain divisions etc and we are out at the same time as the Pro guys on slicks.
