Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to wait until your MOT is about to expire to get your car tested. You can present your car at any time for an MOT, but you only need to get a certificate once a year.

If you put your car in for its MOT in the month before your MOT is due, the test certificate will cover from the date of the test to one year after the expiry date of the current certificate. For example, if your first MOT was due to expire on 4 November 2006 and you take your car in on 15 October, the certificate would run from 15 October 2006 - 4 November 2007. If you want this extension you will need to present your old test certificate at the test station to prove that the time can be added on. This is extremely useful should you find it difficult to find the time to get your car MOT'd on or around the exact date of renewal.

I always allow a week for interest to start been generated. Serious people spend a lot of time looking before they will ring or email.

Would it be worth posting up on SELOC classifieds?

I posted on seloc, not a sniff. Maybe I am being impatient but I generally price any cars for sale fairly and usually by 24 hours I'm inundated with offers to swap for a 306 plus a washing machine and a dog etc lol. If I honestly thought a car was 1-2k cheap I would be straight after it!

Yes but you've got to want one, perhaps no one wants one this week. Next week someone will and they'll call you. I just sold my TVR 400SE, was in very good condition, 50k miles with full history, priced right. It took 2 months to get someone to see it and they bought it. You've just got to find the right person.

Don't forget it's fairly specialised so you won't get the usual precession of idiots offering you stupid part exs. It should scare the riff raff off. Have you got it in pistonheads? PH is the only place you'll get a buyer. Hang in there you have got the price right. Maybe be prepared to take a sensibly priced px like I did.

Other thing I would to is split the TDs off it. I know a lot on here would lop a testicle off for them but many will be put off. I've sold a set off my current one because I dont like them and on my old SC made the seller an offer to remove the TDs it had on an replace with normal wheels. They are nit to everyones taste. Might give you some leway to drop the price then but tbh I'd leave it at 12k with oem wheels.

Yep PH is the place to sell it thumbsup Whats 'modified' VX insurance like at the moment? quite expensive I'd guess that could be putting buyers off? I know an Exige 240 was half the price of just a VXT stage 2 when I was getting quotes, Once you say 'modified' insurers just pull your trousers dowm IMHO :(

Cheers for the advice guys. I have made a listing on pistonheads but they are still to approve it 12 hours later! Car will be available with or without TDs as I have great condition NA wheels with next to new KU31s on them. There are strangely about 3 sets of TDs for sale at the minute though which is why I have held off listing my own! I'm not exactly worried, I'm not even in a massive rush to sell, just thought it was strange that a car everyone was saying I was robbing myself on people weren't biting their arm off to buy.

Pistonheads ad will be the key. People always think that everyone comes on here but its only a minority especially of potential buyers. Try an ebay listing too.

I listed my NA here and piston heads. I only got 2 replies to the .org advert, and they were both me, one to bump the ad with some "new information" and then 2 weeks later saying the car was sold!

The NA is obviously more mainstream than an SC but I got about 30 enquiries over the 2 weeks, with particular interest from Euroland - I guess because of weak Sterling (which is even weaker now than it was then).
It can be quite unnerving when the phone doesn't ring but you have to give it a few weeks.:grouphug:

:yeahthat: I didn't have a bite for 2 months end of last year with adverts on both here and PH, but then all of a sudden I had 3 offers in a week all at the asking price. Can just be a waiting game. I would snap your hand off to be honest with that car, but unfortunately I'm just not ready to get back into the fold yet.

I think the price is about right.. Those that think the price is £1500 to £2000 too low then why don't they buy it and re-sell for the higher price. Could be a nice little profit, or maybe not... A White N/A sold on ebay for £5000 last week with a lot of mods included. If you Add £3500 for a S/C makes it a lot cheaper. Good luck with the sale thumbsup

Good news is it's a weird looking old conversion with only 200hp for the same money! Looks a good deal and great car good luck with the sale!
