Does anyone have any suggestions what could be the cause of this intermittent error? I am thinking coil pack or spark plugs, possibly a lambda sensor? Coil pack, plugs or injectors would be my guess.

Would the plugs or injectors not produce an error code specific to that cylinder?

That sounds plausible as I had removed the small earthing point on the chassis to add another wire to it for the oil level sensor.

Just changed the plugs, they looked ok, no water in them.

Is there any way of testing, or examining the coil pack before buying another?

P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
Calculated load 30.2%
Coolant Temperature 88 degrees
Short term fuel trim bank 1 0%
Long term fuel trim bank 1 0%
Intake manifold pressure 40kPa
Engine Speed 2748rpm
Vehicle Speed 42 km/h
Ignition Timing Advance 16.5 degrees
Intake air temperature 27 degrees
Fuel System 1 status Open Loop (accelerating)

Water getting in between your coil pack and your plugs.

Take coil pack out and spray with wd40.

Works for me. thumbsup

Yes. For example.

DTC P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

But they only all have to be damp, mine never look wet, think they get damp and corrode a bit which stops the connection, wd40 cleans, drives out moisture and is a good conductor.

Spray the coil pack and plugs up with wd40, if its still missing then your coil pack is fcuked.

I've replaced the plugs and it's done it again, so it looks like the coil pack is on its way out, it is 10 years old afterall!

Loads of guys will have coil packs laying around I have 3  other thing has your wiring been modded at all I had some bad connections on the injector loom which I eventually found was causing mine to through that code up, found it by running the car at idle and moving the wires around near the injectors.

I have fannied around with it to extend the injector wiring, but I think I did a decent job on that... I'll give it a wiggle and see if it does anything!
