If LoT are the 'Gold Standard' how does Club MSV rate as a TDO?

It's been a few years since I did a few MSV days (Brands Indy) but seemed well enough organised. The main problem I had with the days were that there were a few too many boy racers being dangerous seemingly without the appropriate telling off. And also some in inadequate cars. Don't have a problem with cheap trackcars as long as they are maintained for the job, but when one of them is telling you that they only picked the car up the night before, it was an MOT failure and cost £50 less than the trackday it does make you give them a very wide berth. Oh, and I once was supposed to have driver training from Rob Barff, what a twat. He looked at my car and said "no, I don't feel like going out in a convertible, we'll take this demo car out instead (a decidedly convertible looking Westfield). He then proceeded to do 4-5 laps overtaking on corners and generally showing off. Came in, jumped out and said "that's how you do it". Hmmm... great... really helpful....

Exactly the same experience I had when I did Bedford with them last year,so nothing changed.

I've done lots of MSV days at Brands. Officious over-long briefings, officious marshals, race cars practising, boy racers drifting (esp the evening ones). Never had instruction there/with them. I still go sometimes but only because its 40 mins from me. Will be doing an evening there in June just as a tester for the car for Le Mans/Spa/National

OK reason for asking. Wifey bought me a voucher for a Club MSV track day. I'd mentioned to her that I'd like to do Snetterton new 300 track a while back. She googled 'Track day' + 'snetterton' and got Club MSV. My past experience with MSV hasn't been that good tbh plus my insurance co will not insure me for MSV events. So I thought I'd put it to you guys to see if things have changed with MSV. Up shot is then we'll see if we can get a refund and get a LoT voucher instead. Feel like a right heel for making a fuss but I don't want to share a track with a load of drifting chavs in beaten up cars which they don't give 2 shits about.

There's not loads of them but you do seem to get more than other TDO's and you can avoid them

no of course not Mark. I just remember at BH one loon who repeatedly drifted it around Graham Hill bend until he lost it into the tyres, rejoined the track and wasn't black flagged. That afternoon there were 6 red flags and no black flags. MSV didn't seem that bothered either that guys were out with their laptops, downloading data from their onboard equipment. This was all on a novice afternoon session. That was a while back and i was hoping that someone would come back and say things had much improved.

If your not on a LOT trackday where the drivng standard is good and track manners even better,I find its just luck of the draw on who turns up. If your wife was thoughtful enough to get you a decent present like a trackday and not a crappy jumper, just go and enjoy. Snetterton 300 is great.
