Has anyone fitted harness and removed the original belts at all? I currently have the original belts "plugged in" and rolled up, hidden behind the parcel shelf, but I'd like to remove the completely to save on weight. However, when removing them, I don't want to have the seat belt warning light on the stack staring me in the face constantly. As such, has anyone fitted a resistor to the wiring to fool it? If so where / what / how / how much? Thx in advance for any advice...

I didnt have a clue either. My airbag light was on all the time anyhow as I had an OMP fitted and didnt sort a resistor. You learn something new everyday

yeah sorry - meant the airbag warning light. So, do I just measure the voltage across the wires and then tape a resistor with the same rating in there? Is it as simple as that?

Jimmy was looking to do this on his race car. Might be worth a PM to him to see if he managed to work out what resistor rating was required in the end.

Lotus fitted some on mine when they fitted the harnesses. I'll have a look next time I'm working on the car to see if I can find the rating.

I removed the original belts and fitted 2.7 Ohms resistors . It works .

Make sure you disconnect the battery and discharge any static charge you've built up, before trying to solder in the resistor. Could ruin your day if the explosive charge goes off.

Should be fine it soldering to the car side rather than the seatbelt side :)

Just getting ready for the first MOT without standard seatbelts. I never got round to fitting a resistor to the pre-tensioners and time has now caught up with me. Can someone confirm that the resistor needs to connect the two wires that feed the little yellow plug in the picture below? yes thats the yellow plug that goes into the tensioner , this activates the seat pretensioner during an airbag event
