I will be buying a VX n/a supercharged or a stage 2 turbo. Which route is best, supercharger or turbo? Power wise what car would you compare a stage 2 turbo against thanks

Here we go again. You don't need to ask a question that has been answered a hundred times before. Use the search box and you will find shed loads of information on this. My stage 2 S/C was slightly quicker than my friend's stage 2 turbo.

Seems to cost a lot more to get more bhp out of the n/a I understand a supercharged n/a is the same as a standard turbo Coming from a standard scooby STi is there much difference to performance to a stage 2 turbo?

First of all, read this thread:
http://www.vx220.org...to-buy-a-vx220/

Then, to answer your question, to get the N/A from standard to a stage 2 S/C you need to spend around £2.5k. If you spend 7k on the car itself then you're at 9.5k. A standard turbo on its own will cost you more than that. So for £/performance, supercharging is probably more cost effective in that respect.

A supercharged N/A is about 250bhp, a standard turbo is 200. The S/C is quicker, and the equivalent of a stage 2 turbo. The turbo will quite happily go to 300bhp before you need to start spending serious money on engine internals. The N/A will need a bit spending to get to 200, but after that is good to go for 400+ I think (450ish iirc?).

For a road car, you will probably get more feel from the turbo (the surge of boost will make it feel faster, even if it's not). The supercharged engine is much more suited to the track setting as there's not much to go wrong with it, it's very easy to maintain due to few electronic components and it's much more linear power delivery.

In the end: Go out in both and make your mind up from there.

I really can't speak from experience because I have no idea and have never driven the STi.

Bear in mind the VX weighs about 900kg with 250bhp in a stage 2 S/C = 280bhp/ton, so do a bhp/ton calculation for the STi and work it out for yourself.

Even if it came out equal, the VX will still feel faster.

I can see why sometimes people get frustrated.

Please do a bit of browsing / searching on here. I know the search function on here is sh1t, but it wouldn't be to difficult to find tha answers you are looking for. I'm not trying to be sh1tty, but we have these threads coming up all too often when the info is easy to find. And to be fair, Seb has already given you a ball park figure for a stage 2 turbo (i.e. around 250 bhp)

As I've already said 2 times, they are the same power, with my other S/C only slightly outpacing the turbo.

Thread locked, same user as 'astravxr'. Because it's boring, stupid, and ends up with everyone having a go at each other.
