Mine's covered in what looks like mole-grip marks.
You reckon they can be lathed out?
Yeah of course but bear in mind that it will take it down the the level of he bottom of the marks. If you weren't so far away I'd suggest bringing it round.

I that is aimed at me, I can assure you mine is definitely thick and kobbly, but thankfully there is no writing on it!

Nah, I believe it was on the options list, Silver with two black rings around it and a set of Allen key bolt heads sunk into the top of it. Then there is a pseudo metal h-gate on the transmission tunnel with gear positions on it.
