Just weighed my vx at my local recycling centre. (scrap yard) I weighed my van first to check they were correct, van weighed what it should 1180kg. (I know the scales rounds up or down to nearest 10kg) My vx weighed exactly 800kg, no roof, no wheel arches, about 5L petrol, a few lightened replacement parts etc, lots of stuff missing lol.. and she was an N/A originally but she has a stage 3 z20let turbo in her. 800kg!? :tumble: Shocked, was hoping for close to it, but never thought it would be that low, just shows, it cant be just the engine that adds all the extra weight to the vxt. central locking etc must add to it? :beat:

Think there's a surprising amount of weight in the sound proofing. In all fairness you're probably missing 20kg of petrol, 5kg of roof plus the other bits so wet weight is probably 835kg? (Probably over estimate). Is the NA 875kg kerb/wet weight? Is that a full fuel tank or half a tank? Can never remember which.

I had my MOT this week, I was saying to the guy the car weighs 870kg and he said he thought they were heavier than that. He checked he's MOT spec and it said 1050kg. I thought that strange, but there's even a little plack under the bonnet that says the weight is 1050kg, what's the score with this then?

That has got to be wrong. Gilles (Rapidos) had the lightest zlet VX i've even seen and its just over 800kg. He has no lights, heater, boot, plastic windows, ultra light seats and exhaust plus pretty much everything else made out of CF (bonnets, wheel arches, undertrays, centre console, dashboard etc etc)

What weight saving mods do you have?

ETA - Most VXT's don't have central locking.

Yeh, although my turbo lump should push my weight up, as most people seem to say the extra weight is just in the engine, so im making savings somewhere... Is the turbo engine 55kg heavier than the N/A?

That cant be right, as my van only weighs 1180kg and its a heavy piece of sh**.

1L of oil weighs about 0.8 - 0.9kg I believe. so about a 20kg saving on fuel. thumbsup

I'm sure there are reinforcement bits on the vxt clam that aint on the N/A clam etc, Lighter parts I have pro alloy rad, alloy intercooler, induction kit, TD wheels, lighter exhaust system.... and just lots of bits that are on a vxt that dont exist on my car, its a transplant engine, as well as all the bits missing like the wheel arches etc, plus I took off the roof and not a drop of fuel in her, thinking about it she is quite low on oil, every little helps haha...

Im not saying its 100% correct, but it cant be more than 50kg out, because I weighed my van and it was spot on, so even if it weighs 850kg, that is a hell of a lot lighter than 930kg, so i'm a happy man. :yeahthat:

Think that might be the fully loaded weight including 2 average passengers plus a certain amount of luggage. My vxt was weighed at about 920kg with hardly any fuel so would've been about spot on the stated 930kg, so your NA is definitely not 1050kg thumbsup

Looking at another topic on the go-

Usually I hear the number 875kg as weight of the VX220
My owner's manual says that the Kerb weight of the car is 855kg
It also says that the Kerb weight is including a 68kg driver 90% of the fueltank filled (40x0,9x0,9=32.4kg) and 7kg of luggage.
This would mean that my car would weight in at: 747,6kg without driver and fuel.
Could this be right really?

So 800kg for mine sounds about right. thumbsup

I'd take it to a more 'reliable' measuring place.
